We had our reception at the Fox Hill Inn in Brookfield, CT (super close to I-84). They also do ceremonies on-site if that’s what you’re looking for. They’re VERY full service and wonderful to work with (food is great too!!). They take care of all the food,c ake, linens, etc which saves a lot of work.

The same owners also own Candlewood Inn (close by, also off I-84) which we found to be more expensive and was beautiful, but had a higher minimum number of guests which is why we didn’t use it.

We also looked at Dolce in Norwalk, which was gorgeous and the woman we met there was fabulous (they also have a hotel on-site which is great) but the cost was just too much for us.

Depending on your budget and the size of your wedding, you can also look at the Delamar Hotel (in Greenwich and Southport, right on the water) and the Hyatt in Old Greenwich (great for big weddings).

How much work do you want to do? We mostly looked at places that included catering to save ourselves some work. There are also lots of fabulous places that have catering separate, several come to mind:

– Waveny House in New Canaan
– The Loading Dock in Stamford
– Bank Street in Stamford
– The Inn at Longshore in Westport
– Tarrywile Mansion in Danbury (we actually took our photos in Tarrywile Park)
– Meadowlands Mansion in Darien
– Lockwood Matthews Mansion in Norwalk

Depends what you’re looking for! 🙂 Hope that helps!

Sorry, I mis-read your post and just realized Danbury and Litchfield area are out… so you can ignore my first 2 paragraphs!

If I were you, I would look at the aquarium in Norwalk.  It depends on what kind of vibe you are going for.  It’s not the greatest aquarium but I love the jelly fish column there.  And if you are planning on having kids at your wedding, it gives something for them to look at and a place to run around.  It is too far away for me, so I’m going to look at the CT Science Museum next week.
