CT Brides- Anyone use Coastal Gourmet/Mystic Seaport? Flexible?

I am getting married on the North Lawn and having my reception in the River Room but we are doing pictures beforehand so it works out for us.  The Greenmanville Church and North Lawn are the only options I am aware of as well.  I know you said you want to have everything in one place but have you considered having your ceremony at another location?  I have seen photos of weddings on line where the bride has married at Harkness Memorial State Park and then had their reception at The River Room.  I know you guests would have to travel a bit but at least it gives them something to do in between and then they could just stop back at their hotel on the way to the venue, instead of leaving the venue and then coming back.

Just a really quick post about Coastal Gourmet… 

We had already picked out The Wadsworth Mansion, and coastal was one of the recommended caterers.  We had a meeting with them, where he basically told me what would go down during our wedding….before we even told him what we were looking for.  He also point blank refused a tasting (even a few apps) without a really high cost.  And he shot down our ideas, and our wants.  For example we didn’t want passed hors d’oeuvres, and he was basically like, no you have to have them. We were lucky to also be going to the wedding show at the Wadsworth Mansion that they have in February.  Coastal Gourmet was there, and had a few things to try.  Nothing was all that great. 

Soooo… I’d say if your looking for flexible, they might not be your best bet.  But, if you want Mystic, you have no choice.

I’m getting married at the aquarium in Mystic and my rehearsal dinner is in the Tap Room at Latitude 41.  We had lunch there during our initial walk-through and FH and I were both highly impressed with the food.  Jenna Landon is the contact over there for Coastal Gormet and she’s been a breeze to work with.  I’ve only met/spoken with her on three occasions, but she seems incredibly accomodating.

 

The folks that run the aquarium (Ocean Blue Catering & Sea Reseach) are equally amazing.  If you want a REALLY unique ceremony over there, contact Kathy Lloyd or Ashley Holt through the main aquarium number.  They’re a riot and have been a pleasure to work with 🙂
