We'd like to get married in CT this fall 2008, but I'm having trouble finding a good reception hall.  We expect to have 150 people and would like to have the reception in the Hartford or surrounding areas.  Any suggestions you can provide me with would be great!!!!  Thank you Bees!!!!

I am getting married in CT this fall as well. Congrats. I know when I googled Hartford and weddings when we were first looking I found a bunch of hotels that have been updated/restored in Hartford. I would check those out.

Congratulations!  I'm getting married in Brookfield, CT (outside of Danbury) but looked at the Hartford area and have been to a few weddings around there, too.  I guess it depends on what you want to spend but here are a few that I'm pretty sure can hold your guests - Farmington Club, Ann Howard at the Bond (this is in downtown, a big open ballroom at the top floor of an old hotel - we looked here but they book up fast because of their awesome prices!), Saint Clements Castle in Portland, the Bushnell in Hartford (I've seen awesome pictures from weddings here!), Wadsworth Mansion in MIddletown, Glastonbury Hills Country Club, Goodwin Hotel in Hartford... I could keep going, like debyeb27 said there are a ton of hotels in Hartford.  Good luck!

I had my engagement party at the Tower Ridge Country Club www.towerridgecc.com in Simsbury, CT- It was beautiful, scenic mountain views and they accomodated 200 people.  Also I wanted to do it at Mill on the River in South Windsor but 150 was too small for me- http://www.themillontheriver.com/.  Then there is always La Renaissance www.larenaissance.com, and Aquaturf. www.acquaturfclub.com.  All these places are common wedding places for my mom's friends (she still lives in CT, I have since moved to CA).  Hope this helps.

I attended a wedding at the Goodwin Hotel and it was gorgeous.  The only thing I didn't like is that the hugh lobby absorbs sound a little too well....so it was hard hearing the DJ on the microphone (though music sounded fine).
