I would tell him to get a shirt that requires cufflinks because you like that look and give them to him the night before!
But I'm tricky like that ;)
I'd keep them as a surprise, I'd just "help" him pick a shirt. And mention that he should have one where he wears cufflinks because it's his wedding day, and how often do people wear cufflinks IRL? Or something like that.
I got FI cufflinks too, but he knows I'm getting him some. He just has no idea how awesome they are. :)
I vote to at least tell him what type of shirt he needs because you got him cufflinks. You don't have to tell him that they're Darth Vader, let that part be a surprise!
P.S. This post is awesome, I also have a Darth Vader garter for the wedding day as FI is a huge fan. We have a Han and Leia cake topper as well and are walking out of the ceremony to the Throne Room song :P

Hi all!
I bought my fiancee the most perfect cufflinks before he even popped the question (this girl is impatient!) and they've been sitting in a box just waiting to be his perfect groom's gift.
The problem is, before we got engaged we didn't know we would be getting married on the beach - which we now are. Now I'm really concerned that the shirt he chooses to wear won't be the right kind for cufflinks and he is definitely not the type of guy who would just be happy with a shirt I purchase for him.
So my question is: Do I present him with the cufflinks before we go shirt shopping a couple months before the wedding to make sure he can wear them? I still have a great surprise for him on the wedding night - a garter that matches the Darth Vader cufflinks :)
OR Do I just hope he gets the right kind of shirt and give them to him the night before the wedding - and just suck it up if he can't wear them on our wedding day? It should be stated that I don't think we would EVER be in another situation where cufflinks could be worn ... That's just not our style. I guess I should have thought about that before I got them for him!
I'd really appreciate some opinions! Surprises have never been a big deal to him, but they've always been a big deal to me. I just don't know what to do.
