I have a hard time searching on this site.  This may have been asked before but I couldn't find it.

I am going to be having about 200 people at the wedding.  I am doing cupcake (and a little cake for cutting).  I kept thinking I was going to need 200 cupcakes and then realized that isn't the case.

What kind of cupcake quanity should I be thinking?  The reception is indoors in July if that makes a difference.

    Thanks.

Are you having other desserts as well? A grooms cake?

You'd be worried that everyone "might" want a cupcake...I'd prob go with 125-150??

     Just my ballpark figure.

There is not going to be a groom's cake.  My fiance's grandparents want to buy some Italian cookies though.  And the favors are going to be rice crispy treats.

I love cupcakes!  I think everyone might want a cupcake... for some reason, cupcakes are more popular than regular wedding cake.

Have you thought of ordering 200 mini-cupcakes?  Most cupcake stores offer these.  That way, you will be sure that there are enough for everyone!

We are having cupcakes too *yay!  Our baker recommended 1 cupcake per guest.  Usually, not everyone eats cake, but with cupcakes, some people might have 2!  So it balances out.

i would order 1 per head and then like 2 dozen extra, what I have usually seen is everyone gets one tray passed then you have the rest on the "cake" table so people who want a second go get it, it usually works out really well! I figure its better to have extra then not enough, cupcakes will always be good the next day!

i'm also doing cupcakes. we have 300 people at our wedding and we're getting exactly 300 cupcakes.  we want to be safe and ensure that every guest will get one if they want one.  if not, they're easy for people to take home with them.

I did cupcakes for my enagement party and I low-balled it- made 75 cupcakes for a little over 100 people and they were gone in 5 min flat and I know some people were upset they did not get one- my recommendation is to make or get 200- one for every guest.

Also, if kids are going to be there you won't have leftovers they may take 2! Too many people love cupcakes. If you are going to low-all I would go 180 or something not lower.

    I'm doing cupcakes too!

We're having 250 guests and I'm ordering 250 cupcakes.  What I wil be doing is picking these up on Friday (day before the wedding) and putting each cupcake in a chinese takeout box with a ribbon on it and a label that says "Love is Sweet".  These will be handed out to each table once we finish cutting the cake.  That way, guests will have cake and a favor to take home with them.

I just thought it was nicer, since not everyone has room for dessert afterwards.
