oh they look yummy!
i love the dramatic colours between the frosting and the berries - stunning!
I think it looks great! When you do the real deal please post pics :)
Mmmm yummy they look good. Fork um over :)
Here's a little trick I plan to employ for my cupcakes. Use chocolate or royal icing for shapes and make them before (say a couple weeks ahead), store in an air tight container with wax paper between layers just in case of meltage or breakeage. Your E's can be made with colored chocolate (chocolate or white chocolate and a bit of paste food coloring) or the royal icing. Just pipe it onto wax paper or parchment and slice the parhchement into sizes that will fit in your container and stack untill the day you make your cupcakes. It might save you some time that night. Oh and make a few extra incase of breakage. Anything left over can be used in icecream or something later. Good luck!
That's a great tip MissPopcorn! Thanks! I'll for sure be posting all the yummy pictures from the big day!
Well now this just isn't fair!! Now i want a cupcake..lol they look great and im sure they are yummy.
They look amazing!! I think they'd even be fabulous without the initial.
These make me so hungry! :)
Oh love it! What did you use to die the "E" sometimes depending on what kind of color you use, it can run. Any advice on not running colors?
WOW! Those are GREAT! The picture makes me want a cupcake so bad
!
Great job!
Thanks ladies! I have to confess I devoured two of them last night and this morning! Kinda healthy with the fruit....right? I used royal icing for the "E." It's the best for decorating cookies and cakes because it doesn't run and holds it's shape. I really like the idea of using chocolate like MissPopcorn told me about. I'll have to play with that. I can't wait to see them displayed on the tray!
they look so delicious! I love cupcake and those I would definitely eat! Im sure with the stand -- they will look marvelous!
@cupcakelover: haha! really? you like cupcakes? ![]()
I think they look wonderful! I love fruit with sweets, like cake or cupcakes.
they look great! how are you storing them? how far in advance will you be making them??
That is the question Ismini...we'll be making them the day before and then storing them with the caterers. I made these ones last night and they've held up very nicely in my refridgerator....and yes I did a few taste test. Too bad I couldn't e-mail you all one! I'm sure I could manage to eat all 24 by myself, but that would be very, very bad...hello got a wedding dress to fit into! I'm sure the neighbor kids are hungry.
Theser are so pretty. What flavors are they? Good luck with the sweets!!
Congratulations! They look amazing!! Great job! I hope you post the pro pics of them post wedding !!
They're beautiful! =O I am also DIYing my cupcakes, but alas, I fear they won't look as good as yours.
One question I have (that I'm trying to figure out for myself): how are you planning on storing them?! I know you can freeze plain cupcakes, but that's without frosting and berries and decorations...and how are you planning on transporting them with them being all decorated like that?
Um, yeah... I am such a sucker for monograms and cupcakes! Both together = perfection! :o)
Beautiful cupcakes! I wanted to do my cupcakes too, but then I had to be realistic. Twenty four cupcakes is a breeze but you need to have the time for them (remember you'll be busy with other wedding stuff like rehearsal, etc, and you can only fit so many in the oven and let them each cool down before icing them). Remember: end the end it's how good they taste, not how pretty they look....b/c it's food. I wanted to do a filled cupcake with glazed icing (takes less time b/c you don't have to spread the icing on each one just pour).
OMG! That's so cute! I love to make cupcakes, but I'm afraid to do them for my wedding, since I don't want one more thing to worry about. But it seems that is really easy for you to do them, so go for it!
They look delish! Question, how did you do the intial frosting? It looks so neat, did you pipe frosting?
I spread the frosting on with a butter knife! Try not to make it look smooth. Missbq - I have a team to help. We've scheduled out the day before and day of down the minute. The cakes will be made Friday morning and then frosted that afternoon and stored in the bakers fridge at the hotel that night. Having an awesome maid of honor and mother help out a bunch. Thanks for the thoughts though!

I long battled with the idea of DIY-ing my cupcakes with the help of my MOH who is an amazing cake decorator. We came up with these. The letter E will turn a darker color purple as it dries. I found the clear sugar crystals at the craft store and I love the sparkle that they add. I plan on using the gold foil cupcake cups for the actual event. Our colors are plum and gold. They were too easy to make it! The best part? For 24 cupcakes (we'll make about 120 total) I only spent $11!!! Total about $60 for my cupcakes. The cupcake stand is also DIY.
Think they'll work?
