So we decided that we are def not a wedding cake couple. We decided on a small cake to cut and then cupcakes for the guests. I was wondering if any of you Illinois brides are doing the same? Where are you getting your cupcakes? I also want to stay in a reasonable price range…not really like the whole idea of paying thousands for a cake….
Let me know if you really like a bakery or if you know some one that does this from home!
Thanks a bunch!

We are doing cupcakes. We checked out Deerfield Bakery and were not impressed. We are going to look at Fleckensteins in Frankfort/Mokena and Nana’s in Bourbonnais. I had Nana’s cupcakes for a wedding last May; they were delicious. That bride told me that the website and building are a bit scary, but prices and cupcakes were good. If you are going to look into Nana’s call ahead and ask to sample their gourmet cupcakes otherwise you’ll get plain flavors.

I love Phoebe’s Cupcakes in Lakeview (Broadway and Roscoe area)! They give price breaks on quantitiy, and their prices for single cupcakes are lower than any of the other cupcakeries in the city. Another place, even though it’s a crazy idea, is looking at getting cupcakes from Costco. The flavor choices aren’t as wide spread, but the cakes are always moist and the frosting takes me back to my childhood. Let us know who you pick!
