I assume she has already asked but can she even PUT the cupcakes on the piano? If it is her own whatever, but if it is at a venue she should probably check. Pianos do not come cheap and as someone who is musically blessed (and has a husband and mom who are music teachers) they would freak at food being placed on a piano.

I don’t think there is enough room on a piano. Even if there is there is going to be spots even there that no one will be able to reach (like the middle).

I’m still in shock that a bride wants cupcakes on a grand piano. My eye is twitching a little…

I agree with PP that she should first check that she is allowed. If so, is it possible to put out 2-3 platters of cupcakes and have more in the back that wait staff could switch out as cupcakes get eaten?

I think you should make a giant cupcake and place on a beautiful cake plate on top of a runner on the piano with a photo of her and her hubby to appease her.  I’m sure the venue would approve that.  Serving 250 cupcakes on a piano is just not possible.  However, a couple of small tables around the piano on platters (perhaps the venue has narrow tables) and other servers would look nice.  Add sprinkles of flowers and scatter gems.

I can’t believe that a venue would approve that and if it’s a grand piano, you’re talking about a $5,000+ instrument.  Tell her it can’t be done.

Why not find out the area of the piano top, then how many cupcakes will fit on a platter, and do some math? Perhaps there can be a stand in the middle, and shorter platters around the outside. You can always move the cupcakes down/off the stands as they are consumed.

Will the venue allow it? Do you need some kind of cover for the top of the piano? Will you also need room nearby for small plates/ napkins?
