So, it's looking like I might be on my period during the wedding.  Blerg.  Does anyone have a "works every time" cure to get rid of bloating?

Midol and gas ex.  Between the two, they always seem to kill whatever is making me puffy :)

Drinking lots of water!  Avoiding salty food.  And working out when I have my period and feel like crap ALWAYS makes me feel better.

I eat a LOT of tums! Calcium and all. But they do make me feel better when I feel like there's a lot of "pressure" going on down there.

I second the Midol. Also - peppermint, either in pill form (Pepogest) or tea. It calms the acid in your stomach.

I actually take probiotics to prevent it on a daily basis (dang stomach issues), they are OTC but you have to typically take them for a few weeks before the start helping otherwise it might make it seem a bit worse the first two weeks.

I take a probiotic every day to help prevent (Culturelle).  Otherwise, Gas X and Peppermint (tea and even mints!).

For me, the thing that works best is just drinking lots of water.  That seems to make me feel better when I'm bloated.

If you are on BC, you can skip the last week of placebo pills and start a new pack right away, so you'll skip your period.

If this isn't an option for you, I second the advice about lots of water, avoid salt (this includes soda and processed foods), lots of fresh fruit and veggies, and working out - even if it's just a long walk. And midol.  Good luck!
