So on our wedding day, my one Maid/Matron of Honor who is engaged asked me to be her MOH! I was so ecstatic because the timing was perfect!! 🙂
I personally have never been PART of a wedding, but I do obviously have the experience planning one. I was trying to figure out my own budget for the year and stumbled upon this question, how much do you generally spend as part of the bridal party? All I know is that my bridal party paid for the bachelorette (which I do not know what the final cost was) and their dresses; I skipped the shower to save time, but I plan to throw my friend one.
So, of course, if you travel by plane for the bachelorette/shower/wedding, it can be understandably be high, but what if you took those things outa consideration, how much would the cost be? Obviously different people come from different financial situations, but there are just some things you have to do (like buy the dress, contribute for her shower and/or bachelorette and possibly even a wedding gift?!)
Just super curious how much people spend generally! Post the breakdown or just vote! 🙂

Ok so I’ve been a bm 25 times! I have spent anywhere from $300, which was a very simple backyard wedding and at my house bridal shower, to $1400 for my sisters. It really depends on what they expect and how big things are for instance the one bridal shower has 20 ppl and I did appetizers and summer foods. My sisters was 80 people which obviously required a caterer, I also threw her bachlorette, the dresses she picked were $200. So it can very greatly.

I lucked out when I was Maid/Matron of Honor in my friend’s wedding and didn’t have to travel. All I paid for was my Bridesmaid or Best Man dress, which we all got to pick whatever style we wanted as long as it was in her colors, a wedding gift and a few things for wedding decor. Overall I think I spent $150 for the wedding about $50 for her wedding gift.
Her bachelorlorette party was a small get together with just the other 2 BMs and we each paid for our meals. She had a baby and didn’t really want/expect much.
ETA: I’ve only been in a few weddings, three to be exact, and I didn’t have to contribute anything to the other two.

I’ve been a bridesmaid a handful of times and each time I would estimate that I spent more than $1000. Between the dress, shoes, hair, makeup, shower (which in 2 cases I covered almost all of) and bachelorette parties, it can really add up.

I’ve been in several weddings and haven’t spent more than $350. Dress with alterations usually runs $150 – $200, I usually get payless shoes, and then modest bridal/bacherolette parties. The brides have not required, hair, makeup, special shoes, or destination bacherolette parties, though, so I consider myself lucky. But, since I live in Bermuda, I don’t think I’ve ever spent less than $1000 on travel and accomodation to the wedding. The price I pay, I guess. 🙂
