Victoria's Secret has some curl enhancer gel that works really good for me and my sister (we both have straight hair that doesn't hold curls well at all). You might want to check it out!
no time like the present to start your own "hair diaries"
on a random saturday do your hair with hot curlers and see how long they will hold and then another day, do it with a curling iron and compare...
i have naturally wavy hair and use Bumble & Bumble's Curl Conscious Creme and Nicolas' Kik-N Curl Rejuvenator - i use both - a pea-sized dollop of each, rub together and use in my hair...
have fun!!
I think I'm your hair twin :) I also have long straight hair and want curls for my wedding. I guess we always want what we can't have :)
I think a curling iron will make the curls hold longer - I've been doing some research myself :) I also heard that you can use a flat iron to curl your hair and that holds very well. I'm going to test them both out and see what holds longest!
I also read good things about Biolage Setting Spray. Maybe I'll try the Victoria's secret product as well for a double dose of curling power!
Good luck - and let me know what ends up working best for you!
i have hair that doesn't hold a curl very well either and i'm going with a similar hairstyle. at my hair trial, the stylist used a curling iron that heats up a lot hotter than the $20 one you can get at the drug store and made tight curls (they looked like corkscrew curls when she was done). Then she put some sort of hairproduct in her hands and ran her fingers through my curls to loosen them up. By overdoing the curls, and then loosening them up after, she ensured that as my curls slowly came out during the 11 hour day i had planned, they would still be curly by the end of the night :) and about 9 hours after that appointment when i went to bed, my hair was still curly and bouncy!
curling iron doesn't work for me... well, not as well as curlers. i have long, fine hair, but there's SO much of it that it looks like it's thick... it's about impossible to curl. i have this garnier fructis extra strength curl gel, though, and if i take a section, spritz well with gel, then roll up on a curler and let set for a good 15-20 hours, then i'm good. :)

I'm planning on doing my own hair and makeup for my wedding. I think I'd like something simple with the front pulled back and the rest in soft curls. It's been years and years since I've curled my hair, so I'm not sure what to use. I have fairly hair straight hair that goes midway down my back. Any suggestions?
My hair has never held a curl very well, so I thought that if I put some soft curls in, they'll stay in place for the photos and ceremony. And if they start to fall out by the time the reception rolls around, it won't look too bad.
So, curlers or curling iron?
