i think you're darned close and honestly no one will notice the differences but you...
I would buy something else long and stringy to mix it up a bit, like that green ivy in the inspiration photo. And then maybe add something soft to it, even if it isn't flowers, to create the effect of the white flowers.
Most importantly, I would spring for the hanging tea lights. Those will give it the wow factor.
You totally can! I did the centerpieces for a friend's wedding using curly willow. We just put the willow in the vase like you did, attached the bloom of spider mums (3 per centerpiece) on the end of a willow using floral tape, and then hung crystals from other branches. It looked so elegant and was super easy. We had about 10 tables done in under an hour. And there were only two of us assembling them.
@JsDragonfly: What are spider mums? Are those the white things around the "neck" of the vase? I am not sure if I want that, do you think its important for any type of function?
@jocelyn3476 Thanks, I like the idea of hanging tea lights a lot. My mom was concerned that with the votives on the table it might be too much, but I love candle light. Do you think I could use real candles or should I use batter opperated ones?
How do you bees suggest I do the green flowers? Do I just buy a stem of something similar and stick it in the vase with the rest of the sticks (I might have to make it longer) or do I cut the buds off of a purchase stem and put them onto a branch with glue or something?
Oh yea, I also wanted opinion on trying to do something similar for on either side of the entrance door (taller but probably without votives). I obviously would need a much larger vase and many more branches but Michaels had a ton.
@caszos....I'm going to try and attach a pic of the spider mums...hopefully it work. we did put a couple at the base, like in your pic...but only like 3 on branches...it ended up looking really cool. i'll see if i can find more pics.
Those are really pretty flowers, I think the florist showed us some in lime green (which I love). We also saw some at Publix so maybe we could stick some in the vases the day of using fresh flowers and still stay really cheap. Did they hold up for you?
I'm doing birch instead of willow because it's thicker. But for those arrangements, I just did larger river rocks to it a little more height and added luneria. It's a very simple arrangment, but that's what I'm going for. It might not be your theme, but it was easy. The florist wanted an ungodly amount for the same thing. Here is a pic:
Those are SO pretty. Thank you so much for the pictures. Are the "luneria" you used real or fake?
I say go for it. Florists are so expensive...yikes! Anyway, you're off to a great start. I have one site to mention if you can't find what you're looking for at Michael's.
I love it!
The luneria are dried and real from the website that Stephin listed. I've seen fake, and it's not pretty. The florist quoted us $2500 for things that will cost me $400 all together to do myself. Save-on-crafts saved me through this whole thing. That's where I ordered almost everything. Just order as much together as you can, because shipping can be a bit high.
Here's the link where I got them - they are so gorgeous in person. It made me change my mind from dendrobium orchids.
I think you're onto a great start!
I did something very similar - but, instead of candles, I had crystals. I think you should stick with the candles, since they are centerpieces (Mine just flanked a fireplace).
But, what I did for the flowers was a little different - I bought a pack of small silk flowers (at Joann's) - they were $10 for 300 flowers - (with a coupon - even less)and then I threaded each flower onto the branches - that way, I had flowers going all the way down each branch and could bunch them together in certain areas. I'll try to get a pic.
I have to say I think you can do it and that I like the flowers at the base (but maybe in your color) of the arrangement. It breaks things up a bit and can also easily be done. You could order the flowers from a wholesaler. I agree w/the other poster about using larger river rocks though. Have you looked at lunabazaar online b/c they have tons of votives for hanging?
Love the luneria from jellybean's picture, stunning!! they have them at michael's too, i think.
I love Jelly Bean's centerpieces! These are beautiful. But with my 25 tables, and the luneria alone costing nearly $14 for each centerpiece, I'd love to see Lara Bee's less expensive version. Picture please!
looks pretty legitimate! i think you should add some tealight candles to spruce it up a bit if you're not having flowers. other than that, it looks fabulous!
Here's another inspiration pic! I like how they attached the flowers in this one, looks like they just tacked them on with some wire. Good job, they are gonna be great!
I think a few stems of orchids and hanging crystals would be gorgeous added to what you've got started.
I am also DIYing curly willow centrepieces. We are hanging tea lights off the branches using lime green wire. If the tea lights are to heavy we will just put them on the table and make some designs with the wire. or ball the wire and hang them off the branches.

Ok, so the florist quoted me a really high price for some simple, tall centerpieces. Here is what I came up with for $20 at Michaels. Obviously they need work, but I'm not sure what. Here is the inspiration style (minus the white flowers around the vase).
Here is what I have come up with, how far off am I, can I really do this?
