My BM gift ideas have been all over the place my entire engagement. I knew I wanted to get them something nice and useful but what that is, I dunno. I've went from cashmere cardigans to custom sneakers to plain ole' gift cards and for whatever reason, the gift plans have fell through (or I just wasn't inspired by it - the gift card). My current obsession is gourmet baskets.
All of my girls like to cook so I was thinking about making baskets, equipped with an adorable Etsy apron and all of the gourmet makings for their favorite meal. For example...
MOH: Likes Italian. I was thinking about some gourmet pasta, sauces, herbs, a small Italian cook book, a nice bottle of wine, nice bottle of EVOO (extra virgin olive oil for those who don't watch Rachel Ray) and the apron...
BM E.L.: LOVES Mexican food. Hers would include gourmet chips and salsa, gourmet chipotle rub, mexican rice, tortillas, spices, gourmet mole sauce, small mexican cookbook, a cute utensil that I haven't figured out yet, a bottle of wine and the apron...
BM E.M.: She pretty much likes everything but I was thinking about doing a gourmet pizza basket for her. It would include a bottle of wine, a nice bottle of EVOO, gourmet pizza dough, gourmet pizza sauces, some herbs, a small pizza cookbook, a cute pizza cutter and of course the apron...
I'm also getting each of my girls a chocolate brown pashmina to wear over their dresses (if they want) but they'll definitely get use out of them after. Living in Upstate, NY pretty much requires a scarf for 4-5 months out of the year.

That is such a wonderful idea! It's really sweet of you to personalize everything for your girls. I would love to steal this idea, but only 3 of 4 are into cooking!! hmm..

@September29: Do they like to bake? You could always do a baking basket. I actually thought about giving one a baking basket (MOH loves to bake), one a dinner basket and the other a breakfast basket but I wouldn't want anyone to be envious of the others basket, lol.
The aprons are from Etsy seller Boojiboo. They have tons of different ones to choose from.

Great idea! Bridesmaid gifts should be personalized to fit individual interests.
@UpstateCait: I have 2 that like to cook and 1 that likes the bake... the other (the MOh) only likes to eat and drink!!! hahaha. I'm sure I could think of something for her.

I think it is a really great gift and soemthing that you obviously spent a lot of time thinking about and plannig. So I say go for it. Super cute!!
Good idea! But for the Mexican basket, I would include a bottle of tequila or nice margarita mix instead of wine.
@UpstateCait: Since I am an apron queen (I have over 25! Mr. Tattoo built me a rack in the kitchen for them!) I would love this! Can I be one of your BM's? :-)

What you've got already is plenty, but if you're looking for more, everyone can use a nice sea salt. Good for all cuisines!!

Just had another thought. What about instead of adding some kind of utensil to my MOH's (Italian) basket, I package the whole thing in a funky retro style strainer? Kinda like this...

Also, what kind of utensil could I add to the Mexican basket?
I love the idea and you just made my day. I have been looking for something to thank my MOH for everything she did for me on my wedding day. And she, like your girls, LOVES to cook! You rock! Your girls will love this without a doubt!

Great idea, I wish my BM's liked to cook!!! Have you looked at www.stonewallkitchen.com for fillers (food items)? Their stuff is indescribably good.
This is such a great idea. There's a common thread, but each bridesmaid's gift is still personalized. Love it!
@blu77: I have not but thanks for the suggestion! It looks like they have some great stuff! I've mostly been looking at William-Sonoma but I'm totally open to other sites.
Does anyone else have any recommendations for gourmet good sites? Maybe some that are reasonably priced?
@UpstateCait: If you are ever in Southern Maine, stop by their flagship store... they have all the jams out and you can try them, as well as salsas and the chocolate dips. I've never had anything from there that I disliked, and they've won all kinds of awards. Honestly, if they started a cult, I'd probably join. I even got to meet the owners once, they still run the company. (They started making jams and selling them at fairs)
I know I'm gushing, I swear I have no connection to them at all, LOL!
Oh, I want that strainer. :D
