Mill: Is it a cloth stethoscope cover? If so, I would advise against that because it will be hard to clean and may carry bacteria/viruses etc from patient to patient. Many hospitals do not allow those to be used.

Do you know what specialty she will be going into?

Is she married/engaged? Maybe a cute ring holder necklace for when she can’t wear rings on some rotations . . .

We had doctors and nurses in our bridal party and we didn’t do anything necessarily career specific (my hubby is a doctor as well). What about a nice pen or a planner, since they use these often? Or even a massage (med school is so stressful!)? I could get into a ton of other good gifts but they’ll be expensive and it would depend on what specialty she is going into (ER, Surgery, etc).

Mill: Maybe a cute overnight bag to pack her stuff in for when she is on call, or to tote stuff to/from work?

ETA: Never mind, I see you are getting all the bridesmaids tote bags.

I’m a pharmacy student, and when we do “rounds” on the hospital floor we usually take a personal device like an iPad mini to look up guidelines and such. So, if she has something like that you could get her a personalized iPad cover that says “Dr. Jane Smith”. Or, going off of what the PP have said, I know the minted.com makes personalized journals and planners. Here is the link for the minted planners: http://www.minted.com/journals?it_category=n_bts&it_id=c1i1bts&us=new+visitor They even let you upload a picture so you could put a picture of the two of you.

Mill: I completely understand. Etsy has a ton of beautiful planners that you can customize. Or even cute scrubs are a good idea (My hubby is very specific about his). You could also make her a little med school survival kit: starbucks VIA packs, mouthwash, cute travel coffee mug, etc. An Amazon giftcard is always good too. Possibly trauma shears…or a pocket organizer for her white coat…

If you’re thinking stethescope accessories, I would suggest a nice stethoscope label with her name on it. You can get plain plastic ones, but a decorative one would be adorable. During my training, I have treasured fancy pens for writing notes, etc. and functional shoulder bags to haul around my stuff.

If she’s going into a hospital based residency, etsy has some cute beaded badge holders (like a necklace with a keyring at the tip to hold a badge)! I got a cute little one with some glass bead duckies on it, i get compliments on it all the time!

Also if shes going into a surgical residency, a cute scrub cap in her favourite colours could be cute.

My MOH got me monogramed earrings in rose gold (my ER and WR are rose gold) and i LOVE them.

I’m a med student and you definitely need to be careful about some of these gift ideas…a personalized scrub cap would be cute but a lot of places do not allow them anymore. And stuff like pocket organizers, trauma shears….that is the equivalent of someone buying me a stapler for a gift!!! Med students/doctors are people too with many, many interests outside of our job! Don’t get something boring/practical just because it applies to our job.

I gave my friends stethoscope charms from Charmed Bling (http://www.charmedstore.bigcartel.com/products) and my friends loved them. She ships fast. I wear two on my stethoscope and get compliments on them all the time. I wipe them off with the usual sanitizer whenver I wipe off my stethoscope and they still look new and great.

Another idea would be a coffee gift card! (Especially if there is a coffeehouse inside the hospital).

Check out Blue Sky Scrubs for ideas. It’s a female oriented medical accessory store with really cute stuff!

If she’s going into a specialty that involves surgeries (OB-Gyn and Dermatology also included), get her a cute scrub cap! You can probably even find one wedding-theme related.

I was thinking a gift card for whatever coffee place is in her hospital….because she’ll need it for those nights she’s going to have to pull. Or a personalized coffee mug that says Dr. Jane Smith…..
