it’s really hard to say without a pic of you in the dress itself but for a curvy bride (I am one too) I much prefer the look of a mermaid/fit and flare dress over a ballgown. But you have to feel bridal in it to know so go by how you feel. I felt like a bride in my Maggie Divina, no other dress made me feel this way.

joyndez: I’m a ball gown girl, but I think the first one you posted of you in the dress looks fabulous!

joyndez: I think it’s just up to you what you like! I’m a ballgown kind of girl (my first wedding I did the big white dress thing), but that first dress you’re in looks AWESOME on you!! So if you like fit and flare (is that the term? I don’t know, I’m not up on that stuff) then I say go for it!

joyndez: I love the first two pics you posted. They both look great on you! The second one, especially, makes your waist look amazing! I would definitely make sure that whatever dress you choose, it accentuates your waist.

joyndez: That one shoulder dress looks amazing on you! I’d go with a bodice that fits similarly.

joyndez: the advice that I will give you is to just try on all styles, (ballgown, mermaid, trumpet, etc.) You will never know until you see YOURSELF in the gown. I will tell you, I am curvy myself and I always pictured myself in a huge ballgown, the day came when I tried on all the dresses I was stalking online and I hated them, I looked like a damn cupcake…
Then I went to another boutique and the woman said in broken english “why you try to hide body? you have beautiful shape, show it off” and she picked out a couple of dresses and pointed to my dress and said i really want you to try this on, you no like, we try another, dresses are not made for the hanger, they are made for you, so try on” So I tried all the dresses on, and then asked to try on the one she liked again, and the 2nd time i tried it on, that was it, i knew that was my dress. it was the only dress where i felt like i had no flaws, i felt beautiful and it was an amazing feeling. I ended up with a trumpet fit n flare wedding gown..who knew?

Thank you I’m actually contemplating on having 2 dresses because I did like the ballroom gown from Vera Wang. My FI loves ballroom but for the reception I’m considering fit and flare.
