So Miss Burgundy's Post (http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/straight-leg-jeans) got me thinking...

I need some new jeans.  But I'm on the curvy side (street size 16/18) and it's REALLY hard to find great fitting jeans!!!!  I wish I could pull off the skinny jean, but it's just not good on me.  I prefer a straight leg jean - something pretty classic.  I know if anyone can help, it's you bees.

So, curvy girls, where do you get your jeans?? Which are your faves? What style are they?

Usually I get jeans (size 12/14) at Old Navy but last time I went in to try some on, they weren't working for me.

I have a lot of trouble find jeans or pants that fit good. I'm only 5'2" but I have long legs and a short torso. Throw some curves in there and it's just a big old mess trying to find anything that fits good!

My friend loves her JLo brand jeans. Raves about them! Every time I think of "curvy jeans" i immediately think of hers

(PS, IMO, not many people can pull off the skinny jean, including myself unless boots are involved....)

I get Levi's in a stretch. Stretch is key if you're curvy. I think you can Levi's at Macy's but I've been hitting up an outlet. They also come in different lengths. I'm 5'3" but have short legs so the Short jeans are PERFECT.

I love, love, LOVE banana republic's jeans. They fit me so well! Im not super curvy but I have a little more junk in the trunk and thighs than "normal" jeans my size allow for. Plus, the jeans Ive purchased at banana have lasted years.. Im still wearing jeans I bought in college there. They're great! I think gap has a curvy fit now too that you could check out.

I've always been a big fan of Citizens of Humanity jeans.  I'm curvy BUT unlike most curvy girls I have a flat butt (wide "child-bearing" hips, pancake toosh).  In most jeans, the pockets end up coming halfway down the back of my thighs.  Citizens work perfectly for me!

The gap "curvy" fit doesn't work for me, but oddly the gap "long and lean" does - my hips and thighs are disproportionately large for my waist size (it stays that way no matter what happens to the scale), and my gap long & leans are a little roomier in the hips/thighs.

Perhaps this is stating the obvious a bit, but the Gap's "Curvy" fit are great! They are cut with a bit extra in the hip and thigh, and have a very flattering flare leg - more flared than a bootcut, but not too wide. Very nice. I've been wearing them pretty constantly since I got them this past summer. Plus, they come in at least 3 different inseams - possibly even 4...

@ twalila "(wide "child-bearing" hips, pancake toosh)" you crack me up! :)

I get my jeans at kohls or JCP, but I haven't been shopping in a while because I get so frustrated trying to find clothes...seriously, one size in the same brand will fit a completely different way everytime you change the pair of jeans, t-shirt...whatever. So I gave up. My poor Hubs...I steal all of his shirts. They are big, but they're comfortable. I rarely go out on the town and when we don't go out usually we will cook dinner and such in our PJs, so I don't have much use for most of my wardrobe anyway. :( Sad day. I think the most extensive part of my wardrobe has got to be the scrubs I wear to work...which makes me even more sad because while I work full time, I only work 3 days a week.

I think this has just inspired me to go shopping. Thanks bees!! :)

Try on things you wouldnt normally and youll fall in love with a new style, a new you! Oh! Get yourself a little black dress and a colored pashmina (you can find both for cheap cheap) then whenever you have a date with hubby, put it on and rock it with some jewels!

I am a big fan of paige denim and 7's. I know 7's are a little 2003, but they are still a rare brand that flatters my hourglass figure! I feel like most jeans are designed for women with no butt, thighs and are about 5'7" with all the fading everywhere..

My jeans must ahve a little stretch, be low cut (makes butt look smaller) and have NO fading on the thighs! it's a very tall order nowadays!

I'm a huge fan of True Religion jeans.  There's an outlet nearby and this never in my life has happened to me before, but the first pair of jeans I tried on FIT and I actually loved them.  Stretch is the way to go!

Have you tried H&M?  Since they are a European company all of their pants are cut different than American companies and actually look great with curves.  I swear by their pants (I haven't tried their jeans).  The other pro is they are inexpensive, you can get a pair of pants for around $40 and they last forever.  I am only 4"8 so I have to tailor all my clothes but with their pants a hem at the bottom is all they need.

    This is a great post.

Oh geez.. I totally hear you on this one.. I wear a size 13/14 jeans, and it is SO hard to find ones that fit right in ALL the needed places!  I have too much thighs and lower tummy, and NO @$$! So finding the right jeans is about as fun as going to the dentist!

I still haven't found the right brand yet, so I can't offer any suggestions. Basically, I just wanted to complain :P

I'm a size 16 and I get mine at Maurices.  They now have larger sizes in store so you can actually try them on!  :)  Plus they have great prices and have sales fairly often.

I'm a 4/6 in jeans but I have a big butt and am only 5'2 and always have trouble finding jeans. Lucky Jeans are awesome for my height and 7 jeans fit in all the right places( I still have to get them hemmed).

I would try old navy or gap. I hate to say it, but most of the suggestions that people have left on here sound great but don't fit size 18! :(

I love old navy. Their jeans fit oh so many different ways.

I'm hearing a lot of shoutouts for the Old Navy jeans, maybe I should give them a try. Some good plus sized jeans are from Lane Bryant. They have regular jeans by Venezia & their fashion line called Seven7. They are color coded for different body types- yellow, red, blue & cut to fit ur type perfectly. They even offer petite & tall lengths. Only down side is they are a little pricey. $50 & up.

I like Target jeans. Personally, straight leg doesn't work for my curves. I prefer a slight flare or boot cut. It minimizes the thighs. I can't remember the brand - something with an "M"

I used to always get my jeans at H&M because they carried Divided jeans but they don't anymore. Those always fit me the best.

My favorite go to jeans are Old Navy and Levis.

But, I must say I HATE Lane Bryant jeans. They have gone to a new 1, 2, 3, ..., size scale, and it's totally off. Also, and maybe it's just me, but does anyone else have the problem with the zipper never staying up? They are way too expensive and I think cheaply made.

I am 14/16 (more often 16), have a big booty, smaller waist, thick thighs, and i'm also 5'11" but don't have especially long legs. shopping for jeans is my ABSOLUTE least favorite thing to do. last year's curvy jeans from the gap fit me perfectly but they changed the cut this year and now they don't work anymore (seriously gap - if it ain't broke! *angrily shakes her fist*). i like lucky brand but i find that not too many of their styles come in long length, which i actually need in this brand, and i can only wear the easy rider style because the rest are generally too tight on my thighs. however, i recently discovered a brand called kut from the kloth which i am now in love with! they only come in one length but they're even a little long on me. the proportions are as close to ideal as i have worn in a looong time. i wear a 14 in them (gasp!) and the stretch is perfect. i think nordstrom sells them, but you can find them at filene's basement (where i got mine) for half the price. i have bought three pairs already and hoping filene's get's new styles in so i can buy more :)

i still haven't found the PERFECT jeans, but lane bryant comes close, they have jeans starting at size 14 or 12 i think, and they have them for all types of big girls, big hips, proportionate hourglass, or girls like me with hips and no arse, lol.

My big problem is that I have a funky tummy and i need high waisted jeans, but i'm young and I want cute jeans at a size 20 thats hard to find. They're all tapered "mom" jeans :(

ps - i find that old navy jeans are weirdly proportioned: big in the waist and tight on the thighs, which i am the exact opposite! layne bryant jeans i find are just too high waisted for me. i have a low-ish waist naturally so i need lower rise jeans, but not too low or else i'll get plumber's crack ;)

@ lauren - have you tried the "Not Your Mom's Jeans" brand? they are all generally pretty high waisted and have tummy trimming feature that i think is cool. they come in a variety of washes, finishes, some have embellishments, and i would love to wear them except for the high waist factor - but they may work well for you! they're in the splurge category if you can't find them on sale. not sure if they have filene's basement in houston, but if not i think they also sell them at macy's. if you google it, they have a website and it should tell you sells them.

I like the Gap Long and Lean jeans.  I'm only 5'2" and the name long is not the case for me. But I found them to be wider in the butt/thighs.  I also have a tiny-tiny waist and most jeans gape open in the back but these don't!  I also found some a Charolette Rouse that Fit great. But they are hit or miss

I'm semi-obsessed with Gap Long and Lean jeans.  I think they're super flattering--the rise isn't too high/isn't too low and there's a nice flare at the bottom.  I swear, they make your legs look super long and skinny!  I just checked their site and it looks like they come up to size 20, too.

I am a size 16 and with curves and I really like Nordstrom's JAG jeans line. They have them in plus sizes and all of their styles have a "curvy" version that is cut more generously in the butt and thighs. They are the first jeans that I have bought in a long time that do not gap at the waist.
