Need some support girls. I was a size 4/6 my whole life until about a year ago, when I ballooned up to a 10/12, and now I’m struggling to find confidence while being a bigger bride. I had my first fitting yesterday, and while I think my body looks all right, all I can do is stare at the massive amount of arm fat that feels impossible to lose. I was eating right for about 2 months, and hardly saw a difference so I got frustrated and gave up (I know, I know). Then FI and I cancelled our big wedding in favor of something small and intimate THIS OCTOBER. I started eating right again and added exercise, right now I’m on day 9 of exercise and about 2 weeks of eating healthier, but it feels sort of hopeless at this point as I only have 2 months. I can’t look at our engagement photos without getting upset and I’m afraid I’m going to feel that way on our wedding day too.
So bigger girls, please show me how stunning you looked on your wedding day and/or in your dress. How do you feel looking back at pictures now? How did you feel the day of? Any words of encouragement, or even how much progress you made in a short amount of time, would be super valuable!

I have been trying to lose weight since we got engaged last september….Ive only lost 20lbs and gone down 1 size. I was a size 4/6 when I met my fiance and I was a size 14 when we got engaged and now I am a size 12……I ordered my dress SMALL thinking i would definitely lose 40lbs in over a year….and I only lost half of what I wanted. I ate right, I dont really drink alcohol, I got a personal trainer and I lost 20lbs and 1 size. Though I will admit i feel a lot better and I am a “tight” size 12 if that makes any sense. I think my dress is very flattering for my size and though i may need to add a corset to it I still feel beautiful. I worked hard and did what I could no matter how frustrating it was so im proud that ive pretty much stuck with it and committed. I did have some cheat days every now and then because you just have to live. Its about feeling good about yourself though not the numbers 🙂 so as long as you feel comfortable, confident and happy you will be gorgeous on your wedding day!

This was just at my fitting it will be even more beautiful when I am all done up.

Footballwife: Thanks so much for your story. I wish I had stuck with it! I wonder what I would look like today if I had been more diligent.
You look really beautiful in your dress and knowing that we’re a similar size gives me confidence!

chickspartan: you have two months to go, why would you throw in the towel now? If you set a goal of 8 lbs per month, you will be down at least 1 dress size. Bees don’t quit when the going gets tough. Download my fitness pal and start tracking your food. It’s amazing how tracking your food keeps you accountable.

chickspartan: i have struggled with my weight my whole life. I have zero confidence. But i will tell you, my wedding day was the one day in my life where i felt beautiful, i felt flawless, and it was the most amazing feeling. I didnt think i was going to feel like. I was not in shape. Im actually in the process of loaing weight now. But i looked and felt gorgeous on my wedding day.
FYI – i am also a 10/12

Don’t worry about the time you have left – just don’t quit!! I saw a post recently from another bee who showed a before and after of what just one month of good healthy habits resulted in, and it showed!! Don’t put a number on it or force yourself into unhappiness by eating nothing and exercising like crazy – just keep going, day by day, meal by meal. Then two months from now, whatever progress you’ve made you should be incredibly proud of – and it will help you hold your head up high on your wedding day, feeling every bit as beautiful as you should!
I’m pep-talking myself here too – I’m about three weeks into some really great progress, but I’m having a ROUGH night. Heading to bed before I eat the whole kitchen 🙂
My quote for this day: “Trust me, when I woke up today, I had no plans to be awesome. But shit happens.”
Good luck to you!!! You’re awesome 🙂

I am a size 14 and even after 3 months of having a personal trainer, I lost only 7lbs. But my dress was a Grecian-style, one-shouldered design in ombre from white to deep pink and it looked really pretty (and my arms were toned from the gym).
Everyone will be seeing how happy you are, so don’t worry!

I’m trying to accept that I am never going to be thin and learing to love my body. However, I haven’t been healthy lately and I hate the bloated feeling, especially in my arms.
For a quick fix, do Jillian Michael’s 30 day shred. OMG. I don’t even know how much weight I drop when I do it but the inches drop so fast. You will feel 100% better about yourself especially your arms.

I am a big proponent of loving your body no matter what. Quick-slim diets and fads never last so what’s the point? Also, your hubby loves you and is marrying you so why worry about your size when he clearly loves you for you at any size? The only thing I did before the wedding was get rid of some water/bloat weight by not drinking for a month before the “i do”. That might help you! Also, for arms and any exposed skin, try a really intense exfoliation the day before the wedding – smooth skin looks so nice and you’ll forget about the extra weight when you feel how soft your skin is! Another tip – learn how to pose in photos! A skinny person can look real dumpy if they don’t pose right, and the opposite is true of curvy gals looking slimmer with the right pose. Practice in the mirror.
I am a size 12 and loved my look at my wedding. I too was worried about my arms.

I am a size 10 street clothes ( I’m 5’9″), and my dress is a size 12. I wouldn’t say that’s a big size at all.
When I was a teenager, young adult I suffered from pretty bad anorexia, I was in a size 3 until i was 22, and now looking back. I have seen my body develop into a more womanly shape, and I’m okay with that. Sure I am not a stick figure bride, but I am happy and healthy and that’s what is important.
Posture can do wonders for you looking your best on your big day. Don’t worry about the size you are but how you feel
here is me in my wedding dress size 12, and I am looking forward to my big day (in 2 days) and i’m pretty much the same weight and size i was then

audrey_lane: Thank you. It was actually the store sample.. so I got the dress for $600- normally $1500. It fit perfectly when I tried it on. I didn’t even need to have it shortened or anything. I just had a bustle put in and it was good to go. I just had it pressed for the big day

Size 10/12 is not big. At all.
When I ordered my dress it was a size 18. I went in for a fitting last month after losing almost 30 pounds and they said they have to take it in so much it will practically be a 14. I was hoping to lose another 10 pounds before the wedding but stress eating has taken its toll on me. My main concern is that I look like I have a double-chin in pictures, I hate it =/
