If you dont want your ring to rip gloves then a cushion or round would be ideal. I havent purchased from either company so no comments on that part. Good luck and cant wait to see pics!!!

We got my ring from james allen and it’s awesome. It’s a cushion and I like that we could see the actual stone. And the customer service is awesome.

FI purchased my Engagement ring from James Allen as well – and we were blown away! The quality, service, and price were equally amazing. Mine is also a cushion cut!

I’m completely biased but I love cushion cuts.  However as you said, each cushion cut can look vastly different from another cushion cut, so you will only want to buy online if you can get various images from the seller of the diamond.  You cannot buy a cushion on stats alone!  Ask for ASET images (light prediction) which will give you an idea of how sparkly the diamond will look.  Also try to get HD videos as well in various types of light if you’re going with a cushion.

My ring’s from James Allen, and I’m quite happy with it.  We sent them my stone to set.  Ordering the stone from one site and getting it set through the company that has the setting you want sounds like a good idea.  James Allen might be able to customize the ring for you, too.

My fiance purchased my ring from James Allen as well.  He went to a few local and chain jewelry stores, but ended up buying online-he said the customer service was great and the prices were really good.  I knew I wanted a Radiant, and he did the rest..here is my Radiant with two little “surprise diamonds” on each side (front of back of the center stone, so you can’t see them from this picture).

@DrMrsCol:  it’s an exciting time! I personally chose the Radiant for a couple of reasons-I like the rectangular elongated look and I don’t personally know anyone else with that shape ๐Ÿ™‚  Make sure you post when you receive it!

@DrMrsCol:  haha, your comments about what your SO said are really funny! ๐Ÿ™‚  Have you tried on any rings?  That may help you decide.  I never did, I do love my ring..and part of me wonders what would have happened if I tried on other shapes, would I have still gone with this one?  Who knows! My mom has a round, and many friends/people I know have Princess, so I did want to be different.  Cushion would have been my second choice, as long as it was an elongated cushion (I just really like that look.)

I can’t answer any of your more technical questions on the Radiant shape–my FI probably could though as he’s pretty schooled in diamonds now!  I don’t even know all the specs for mine.

If you are up for it-I’d go and try on a few..different styles, maybe (solitaire, halo, split shank band, etc.).  I changed my mind on what type I initially wanted and over time went from wanting something more blinged out to something more simple..and I’m glad I did ๐Ÿ™‚  Now though, i’m looking at wedding bands and def. want something with some added sparkle ๐Ÿ™‚

I have a radiant, it’s not from James Allen but I am buying the matching wedding band with the baguettes from there.  My setting is platinum.  I love the radiant cut, knew nothing about it and FI picked it out with the three stone past/present/future setting all on his own. Excuse the bad cell phone pic.
