Welcome to the hive! Honestly, I am pretty confused by all the different dresses you are trying to combine. I am sure it would be lovely, but it seems like a lot of moving parts. From what I have seen here, these dress makers tend to do better when they are combining just 2 or 3 elements of dresses. I would consider a dressmaker that you can find locally who you can speak to and see the progress of the dress so there are no misunderstandings. I think it would be hard with a chinese dress shop like these to get all these different elements across. Best of luck!

alexsymm: Have you shopped at all in person? I think you might be surprised with what’s out there.

Welcome, BTW!

I agree with the previous posters. I think they might get confused with all your requests. Maybe you could draw a sample of your dress to show what your overall desired look is.

Also, did you mean strapless as in no straps, or as in no sleeves? I don’t think a lace/mesh back strapless dress would be feasible since a lot of a strapless dress’s support comes from the back. Your directions aren’t very clear about that part.

Anyway, I think it could be done as long as you are very clear with your directions and ask them for confirmation that they understand each element.

alexsymm: Jasmines Bridal does amazing work with lace and beading so I’m sure they would do a great job, however, as the first poster said, it’s confusing with all the different dresses you are trying to combine. JBS isnt keen on complicated requests because it leaves too much room for error. I would just do your best to make it simpler for them. They are making me this Galia Lahav gown 🙂

alexsymm: Okay, so you do want strapless. Well since you plan on wearing a bra, you might consider an “illusion” mesh back. You could order some fabric samples and match your skin tone for the underlayment and do white lace over the top so it just appears see-through.

Yeah! So you can pick a fabric, and hold the white tulle over it to see how close it would be to your skintone.

alexsymm: I can’t offer any advice on buying a custom dress, but I wanted to say hello because I haven’t met another North East bride on here yet! I’m assuming you are at least because of Alnwick Castle, I live just outside of Newcastle 🙂 I LOVE Alnwick Castle and Gardens, so I just wanted to say that your wedding is going to look amazing!

MrsWFit: hi! This is the exact gown I want! Curious to how your dress is coming along? Aso do you mind sharing how much jasmines is charging you? I’m considering doing the same thing! Thanks!

alexsymm: , CarlyPalmer: just joined myself and posted about having a custom replica made. You guys are the only UK brides I’ve come across so I thought I’d introduce myself! I’m sure there are others here but I’m yet to come across them, hope to share our quests for our perfect wedding dresses together 🙂

Fifa1: Hi! Im also a UK bride- ive just stumbled across this page as doing a bit of research! [content moderated for violation of TOS] with all that being well, im then ordering fabric samples!

The dress im after has an invisible/illusion type fabric coverinv the bodice and sleeves, which then has intricate little lace appliques covering it, so the thing i’m most interested in is how soft and transparent the mesh will be- they’ve advised me to order colour and fabric samples so that I can find the mesh best matched to my skin tone fof the invisible look!

Keep in touch and let me know how you get on 🙂 xx
