There is a custom/couture dress maker in Dallas. I can't for the life of me remember his name though. It's a man. I'll look around and see if I can find it. Did you only search wedding gowns or did you try searching evening gowns? I think that's how I found it.
Thanks so much! I had seen Mr. Cordell's name come up in searches, but I didn't like the dresses too much and the website made me feel weird. Then I found this and this. (!) The people sound so miserable & annoyed... for their sake I hope the stories are just exaggerations. Still, it's enough to scare me away. :(
Richard Brooks looks promising. I also found this fabric store that will reportedly set you up with a designer.
Keep 'em coming! :)
After the first woman who altered my wedding dress all but butchered it, I took it to a woman (forgot her name but can find it out) who housed her little business at Richard Brooks and SHE WAS FABULOUS! I am not sure if she does custom dresses, but she alters for a lot of high-end clientele in Dallas and I'm sure she would have a recommendation.
Mii at Mii's bridal does beautiful work... 2143198381. I used to work there during my first semester of college, and she is incredible.

I've heard good things about Becky Fowler, at least as far as alterations go; I'm not sure what her number is, but I know the ladies on The Knot would have it.
I can't say enough good things about Becky Fowler. She only did minor alterations for my dress and a bridesmaid dress I'll be wearing soon, but she did major alterations for my FSIL's wedding dress in one week's time and it looks fabulous. And Becky is the sweetest lady you'll ever meet. Also VERY affordable.
As far as making dresses from scratch, she's got photos on her walls of dresses she's made from the ground up. She has definitely done it before.
Here's her number: (972)986-8067. She doesn't do e-mail well, so phone is your best bet.
If you are still, looking, check out DressMyWay, www.DressMyWay.com . They are in the design district on Oak Lawn, Dallas. They makes custom dresses for the whole wedding party. I visited their studio and had a free consultation with the designer. It was such a great experience and they are working with me to design my own dream dress. The price is very reasonable too. I also saw some dresses they have made in the studio. Excellent quality. I am so excited!
I don't have anything to add but I'm glad I found this post. I wanted to get measured for a custom dress that I'm getting online (not a wedding dress) and trust that someone who makes custom dresses would definitely be able to get me accurate measurements!
Ladies,
I had my wedding dress recently created and design by this company Binzario. OMG the best experience I've ever had working with a company. The follow up-the turnaround was remarkable. I had been looking and looking for a dress in the stores, but found nothing I liked. I call Binzario and they really exceeded my expectations. Like seriously! I could not be a happier bride. I flip through the photos and just smile. It was perfect. I attached a link to their website and reviews. Don't take my word for it-see what the other brides had to say.

Hello everyone! I've decided to go the custom dress route, and am having trouble finding a seamstress in the Dallas area who can design & make a dress from scratch.
I'm looking for someone who can take my ideas, make a design, do a muslin mock-up, etc.
I've found two designers so far, but they're both more than 3 hours away from me.
I saw one lady on television who made a dress for "Whose Wedding Is It Anyway" (it was the green/white/black dress, if anyone else watches that show, and she was in the Dallas area) and have no way of finding out who she was.
I've been to fabric stores to find recommendations and have searched the Internet, and still no leads.
Help!
