SO and I have just bought a center stone for what will be my engagement ring and are looking to have a custom setting made for it. We have access to Chicago and NYC and would like to work with somebody in person when designing it, so if anybody has any personal recommendations I would LOVE a jumping off point (we don’t know anybody that has gone the custom route). And feel more than welcome to include any examples of their work!!

Have you heard of Leon Mege? He is the most amazing jeweler pretty much ever. He is based in NYC, along with Steven Kirsh who is also amazing. Just look them up on google. They do cost a pretty penny, but they are so worth it! I personally had my ring create my Jewels by Erica Grace, but if I hadn’t chosen them, I would have gone with Leon, Steven, or Victor Canera (whom I think is also in NYC but I’m not sure).

@Kat: Oh my goodness- Leon is making me wish I lived a much fancier life than I do…. then I might someday have an excuse to buy these beauties, lol.

My jewelers for NYC are
Dinesh from Justice of the Peace Diamonds Inc because he has a HUGE bridal collection, mostly available on facebook but live shots he didn’t take yet.
some examples of Dinesh’s rings are found on this vender’s page as well…
Another is John Kikis
who works with private customers but I prefer Dinesh because he has ready made selections AND is a vender for Unique Settings of NY http://www.uniquesettings.com
Justice of the Peace Diamonds is also in the same office as a diamond supplier, so its very easy for him to work quickly and easily with you

Yeah, those are delish 🙂 His workmanship is pretty amazing. But I will say that I think it might even fancy Victor Canera’s work more! I’ve seen a comparison thread with almost identical rings from both him and Leon Mege and I liked VC’s a bit more for sure.
My Boyfriend or Best Friend had my 3ct OEC Moissanite set in a designer custom made ring from Jewels by Erica Grace as my e-ring (still waiting on the proposal! yay!), and while it was expensive, the fact that I chose moissanite made it possible to have a ring that looked like one of Leon’s masterpieces but at pennies on the dollar to what it usually costs. If we had went with a diamond, I very literally would have been looking at less than a 1 carat diamond in a solitaire.
