So, long story short, I have been going round and round about what kind of jewelry to wear with my dress. I know many people (including my consultant at the salon) are of the opinion that beaded bodice = no necklace. I don’t know why, but this doesn’t sit right with me. I feel like, for me at least, strapless + updo = some sort of necklace, or else I feel like my upper body is naked.
See that? Poor, sad, nekkid neck. 🙁
So, anyway, I was hunting for ideas, and never really found one to love. Do I go with silver or gold? Pearls or crystals? Statement or dainty pendant? Who knows? Not me, that’s who.
Then I recalled coming across this lovely picture, where the bride features her new last name as a hair pin. This got me thinking.
Now, at the risk of giving away FI’s identity, I have to brag a little… FI has the best last name. Amore. Yes, Ladies…. my FI’s last name is Love, Italian-style.
So, how perfect would it be to have a custom name necklace that says “Amore”? I have seen “Love” necklaces, why not one in Italian, that just happens to also be my new last name?
Enter Etsy. I found a wonderful seller who made reasonably affordable name necklaces in a style I like. I ordered it in silver and gold- I figure that, even if I nix the idea for the wedding, I can still wear them after the wedding, just because.
(obviously not my name…. but just so you get the idea of what they look like)…. Oh, source here.
I have yet to try either on with my dress, but I do have them now, and they are very pretty and dainty, and I think I could be happy leaving them plain, but I could easily add to them by adding pearls, crystals, etc.
So, what say you, bees? Would you wear a custom name necklace on your wedding day, or stick to the more traditional bridal jewelry?
