@SoonTooBee:  I had my ring custom made based from a photo.  I live in Canada, and the ring was in the states.  I did not want my FI to incur ridiculous customs so we had it custom made.  It turned out exactly the same, if not better.  It seems to be a lot more structurally sound than the one in the image.

Here is the stock image they designed it from:

Here is my ring:

I highly suggest going the custom route! Just make sure you are confident in your jewellers ability 🙂

@SoonTooBee:  I did! I love Verragio but they are so expensive.  This is the ring I dreamed about:

And this is what I got!

@blushbliss:  You don’t actually pay customs fees on jewelry made in the US coming up to Canada, you just have to pay your provincial taxes. When we had my ring custom designed I was worried about the same thing but called customs to ask how it worked. 🙂

Also, I loove your ring!

I did! Well, sort of. I tried on this ring:

and loved it, but the stone quality wasn’t quite what you would want for that price. I did a little research and quite accidentally found the Tiffany ring that it was (IMO) modelled after. Meet the Soleste:

Unbeknownst to me, FI had taken a picture of the Soleste to a local jeweller and had my ring custom made. I preferred a round centre stone to a cushion. This is my baby:

I highly recommend going custom as well. I’m pretty thrilled with the result!

I highly recommend going the custom route, especially if you are looking at a designer ring in a brick and mortar store as the markup is absolutely ridiculous.

By choosing to do my ring custom, we got bigger and higher quality stones for LESS than we would have paid buying it through Robbins Brothers.  It was also made with a lower profile so that it wouldn’t catch on things as easily.  I am so impressed with how it turned out.

Here is the Simon G that I fell in love with in the store:

And here is my engagement ring 😀

@iiiEllie:  Yes, I later figured that out.  I should have mentioned that the companies return policy deterred us as well.  Additionally, the jeweller was a friend of the family and gave us a huge discount (basically free custom work).

And thank you! We are very happy with the way it turned out 🙂

Yes I did as well! Fell in love with Birks 1879 ring and got it custom made with my solitaire diamond. SO worth it.. my jeweller actually is one of the suppliers for birks so it turned out perfect!!!

@sommertime:  Who made your ring? I always assumed it is Verragio. I love replicas since they have the same effect but cost SO much less.

@capitalbee:  Who made your ring? It’s spot on!

@DreamingofDiamonds:  Who made it?

@octoberbaby:  Who made it? I love the gap around the halo! That really allows the center stone to stand out.

@bunnyharriet:  Thanks! Davidson’s Jewellers in Ottawa. But it was manufactured by Corona.

Hi capitalbee!

I know you haven’t been active for awhile but I thought I would give it a shot. I have looked at a few threads trying to find photos of your ring but they don’t show up for me for some reason, just the little broken picture icon. I am a fellow Ottawa bee and I would love to see the ring you had custom made through Davidson’s!

Thanks 🙂
