i paid $85 for 100 58-cent stamps at zazzle. i had to go through lots of probs with them (first they wouldn’t use my photo bc it was copyrighted, then they lost my shipment so they sent me a new one). customer service was really good though, and because they redid my shipment and overnighted the new one to me, i got it the next day. i also eventually got the old shipment too, so i ended up getting 200 stamps total (i feel like i should feel bad, but oh well!)

they turned out really well and we got SO MANY compliments on them!

We did this!  I loved the finished product, it really pulled together the invitation!  Since I had envelopes with a design on the left corner, it really brought in the colors nicely… I got mine made at stamps.com.  The only drawback is that they say stamps.com on them.  But I made that part light gray, so it wasn’t really too bad.

The price… hmm.  I can tell you: I bought 2 sheets of 20 (so 40) $.41 and 2 sheets of 20 of $.92 and the total was exactly: $111.95 with overnight shipping.  I’m so bad at math.  I don’t know how to attempt to break that down, but maybe you can?  Or someone else here?

 Hope that helps a little.

sweeney — i would provide the info, they basically denied it because of their policy. it was pretty obvious that i didn’t own the image — it was of the dino skeleton that’s in the museum where we’re getting married. =) the second time, i bought the next image from istockphoto.com so i provided them with all the paperwork, and there weren’t any problems.

Sweeney-

Be sure to weigh your invitation at the Post Office and have them give you the correct postage before you order custom stamps. I know someone who ordered custom stamps, then had to reorder because it wasn’t enough postage.

How big does that barcode on the custom stamps end up being in comparison to the stamp?  I love all the options available on Zazzle for stamps, but can’t figure out if I love the bar code or not.  Does somebody have their envelope with the stamp that they can take a picture of and post?

Here is a blank envelope of ours with the stamp (I accidentally ripped a piece from the top).

suzanno, i ordered the small size. i used a number 10 envelope, so it’s a little hard to see the scale, but you can see the size of the barcode. i didn’t find it (or "zazzle.com" as obtrusive as i thought it would be.

i can’t figure out how to add the image directly to the boards — oh well!

ps — sorry it’s so dark!

Thanks for the photos of the stamped envelopes!  They do look great.  I wasn’t so sure about the custom stamps, but am worrying lots about the postage increase (as we will be mailing right about then).  After seeing your flower and dino stamps on the envelopes, I think I will go that way.  I love how you matched the flower pattern to your envelope.  And of course the dinosaur is fantastic!

I have no experience with these, however as fyi…  Costco offers 20% off orders for custom stamps from stamps.com and I’ve also seen ‘kits’ for these at my local Costco store.  The discount is off of the service fee, not the postage amount itself and you also get free shipping.

I was pricing places out last night and zazzle.com seems to be the cheapest online place (that I found) to buy custom postage stamps.

All prices (without shipping) based on needng 120 stamps. Stamps come 20/sheet, so 6 sheets.

US Postal Service (for comparison):

.58 / $69.60 for 120 stamps

.75 / $90.00 for 120 stamps

Zazzle.com:

Small (1.8×1.3 vertical) – .58 / $101.70 ; .75 / $125.70

Medium (2.1×1.3 vertical) – .58 / $113.70 ; .75 / $137.70

Large (2.5×1.5 vertical) – .58 / $125.70 ; .75 / $149.70

Yourstamps.com and many other places:

.58 / $125.94 for 120 stamps

.75 / $149.94 for 120 stamps

These prices obviously don’t take into account the postage rate change and I couldn’t find anything when they’ll be making the switch to the new denominations. There are also prices for custom postcard stamps, but I found these to be waaaaay more expensive than just using regular postcard stamps, so I’m not considering that option.

I emailed Zazzle about the rate change and they replied that their rate change stamps will be available by the end of this month – which is coming up pretty soon.
