Anyone have a good recommendation for a good custom ring designer? I finally know what I want, and we’re going to have to scramble to get it. I’m looking for a fairly delicate, Edwardian-art deco transition style ring. I saw an estate piece I like, but it’s enormous and can’t be resized (also, it has synthetic stones which we def. don’t want). The ring was at Gleim’s in Palo Alto. The woman at that shop said they have a custom designer who could design one for us. But Gleim’s in Stanford Shopping Center said they’d never heard of doing custom work. Pretty weird…anyone have experience with them? Or anyone else they can recommend to do this kind of work?

It you go to the "Gift Center" in SF there are TONS of jewelry stores and many of them do custom work, but there are also many options…the place is like a big mall made out of pretty much all jewelry stores. It’s where we went for our rings. If I was you I would check the stores there to see if they have anything you want and if not, go to one of the places there to have your ring custome made. Good luck!

Thanks…do you need an appointment there?

My fiance and I went to the store "Just Bands" in the Gift Center and worked with them for my diamond and setting. It’s a small store, but they pride themselves in being able to custom order for you. I’m totally totally happy with my custom ordered result.
You do have to call ahead (their info is online or on Yelp.com) to visit, but we’ve never had a problem getting an appointment, even short notice.
