Customized a Casablanca gown?

posted 3 months ago in Beehive

Hello hive!  Once again I need help with my gown search.  One of my top contenders is Casablanca 1772, which comes in ivory with a blush sash sewn on at the waist.  Blush doesn't really work with the color scheme I was envisioning, though, and I'd like to get the dress in all ivory.

The saleswoman at the bridal shop said she'll call on Monday to ask Casablanca what it would cost to make that change, but in the meantime I thought I'd ask any Casablanca brides around here what changes you made to your gowns and what it cost!  Maybe I can get a rough idea of how much that change would add to the price of the gown if I know what other changes cost.

Oh, you can absolutely change the color of the sash no problem.  They will most likely use the same fabric.  My friend had a Casablanca, and it came with a blush sash and she wanted ivory.  Not an issue and looked so much better.  I got a casablanca....if you didn't know, they can make a LOT of customizations.  Number one, I wanted a corset as I am more full-figured and it gave me a nicer shape.  Did  it no problem.  Then, I fell in love with one dress' color, beading, embroidery, etc. but didn't like the shape.  They just used a pattern of a dress shape I did like, and made my perfect dress....which I hated for a while, but I look at our pics and I totally loved it - I had the problem of wedding mag addiction and loved all the new dresses, and had second thoughts.  I went to 4 dress shops, all carried Casablanca, I said my thoughts to all of them, and only one shop actually told me about how Casablanca will customize things.  Only with their existing dresses - nothing like, you designed yourself.  But it was totally fantastic.  ANd I also wore a dress no one else has ever had! Oh, and it only cost about $150 more to create a semi-custom dress!

I had to look to see which dress you were looking at, and you aren't going to believe it but thats the dress my friend wore and made the same change!  I can look for a picture if you want me to email it to you...

dreambml, I would *love* to see a pic of the gown in all ivory if you have one handy!  I'll send you a PM with my e-mail address.

The bridal salon told me that customization is Casablanca's specialty, so I'm sure it won't be a problem to change the sash ... I'm just worried about the cost.  I liked another Casablanca gown that had some strange pleats in the skirt; I asked about getting a flat skirt and the saleswoman said the last bride who did that paid an extra $300!  I'm sure changing the sash wouldn't be anywhere near that expensive but I don't want to set my heart on it 'til I'm sure.
