I picked up my Oleg Cassini CT258 from the shop the other day after some bigtime alterations. It is (was) a US sz 16. Fit when I bought it, got diagnosed with an illness that made me…puffy…so we’ve removed the zipper and put in a lace-up back. I’ve never seen this done on this particular dress before. I guess I like it, since I have no choice. I’m devistated that I couldn’t just fit in the dress I bought like everyone else. I’m afraid that it looks obvious that the dress is 4-5 inches too small…
I’m not feeling confident in it at all and all I see is back fat and a wide midsection.
I need some honest opinions on what you think of it and how it looks, if I should look for a different dress, maybe… =/
Sorry if the photos are huge, I have no clue how to resize them!

It looks great! As a fellow bride-to-be diagnosed with an illness that made me puffy, I know how you feel, all we see are the areas we didn’t have before! The dress looks fabulous on you! You will look amazing on your wedding day, don’t stress about it!

I thiknk the dress looks great! The corset seems to be well made and it ties in with the style of the dress very nicely.
You look great in the dress too! I have not gone through what you are going through but I can tel you that the dress looks great on you and IDK what you mean when you say “wide midsection”. Look at the last pic you posted. Your waist looks so tiny! If you are not liking your back maybe you can get a bolero or other type of cover up. October in MA has the potential to be a little chilly/breezy anyway.

I tried this dress on (I wear a street size 22/24 and fit thei 16 or 18) and honestly if they’d mentioned this was an option I’d have liked the dress better. I think (and I don’t do flowery bee complis) that it looks very nice.
One thing I *have* learned on here is we are our own worst critics. Concentrate on the good – and good thoughts for continued improving of health (because tha’s wha’s REALLY important!)
ETA: I advise twirling in that dress. It’ll make you feel better <wink> that’s what my 5 yo niece thinks is most important!

It doesn’t make you look puffy at all. It’s very flattering and I think the corset back looks better than a zipper anyway. Great choice!

@DanielleElizabeth: You do look great! If your feeling down, do something for you. Be productive about it, dont sit still and wollow in it.
There are things that can be done to help your dress situation, you just have to find the solution that is right for you and your dress.

Your waist is *tiny*! I actually think the corset makes it look SO much better. Plus, you won’t have to worry about the day of because it WILL fit either way.
It’s such a beautiful dress with beautiful detailing and I second @MsDontRushME: – twirl in it! It looks like it would be an amazing twirling dress. I just love the skirt.
Your arms look great in that dress too, none of that weird underarm squish that happens to me all the time.
You are beautiful and your dress is beautiful and on your wedding day you will look GORGEOUS!

@DanielleElizabeth: That dress looks so lovely on you. Not at all too small. I like the corset, definitely looks like it belongs on the dress and I love the bodice. You’re beautiful. 🙂

It looks really good! Not at all too small or tight.

I don’t see the fat or wide that you’re talking about. Looks great!
