so…after pouring over countless threads on ye olde wedding bee, i felt pretty good about dressily me. of course, i am a special delicate butterfly flower (not just a butterfly or a flower…i like to combine things), so I didn’t like anything they had as is.
my first message to them was to clarify whether they could get the fabrics i want. (1) cotton for the layer closest to my skin (2) swiss dot tulle.
they couldn’t answer unless i told them what dresses i liked…ok. sent them links to dresses from their site that i liked.
sorry, we can’t combine features from different dresses, and we can’t change the fabric bc that would change the design of the dress.
ok…seems like i want custom. i like this dress:
but i would change the following things:
1) no applique
2) lined with cotton instead of satin
3) swiss dot tulle
4) add straps
5) i would like it to be two pieces…separate bodice and skirt
i sew, and so…i’m pretty clear that what i’m asking for makes this dress quite a bit simpler. changing fabrics before even getting started should be a non-issue, and cotton is basically the easiest fabric to sew with. certainly easier than satin.
they wrote back and said…and this is a direct quote…
“By the way, according to the picture photo, we have find this dress is made of satin inside and tulle with appliques as decoration outside. If we tailor it, we will keep use this fabrics and can not use the one you point out. Please kindly forgive.
Seen from the picture on, it is a one-piece dress. We are sorry that we could not do it into two pieces. Please kindly forgive.
Now, please kindly use the above information as reference and offer us the big and clear photos of the back of the dress so that we can make a quotation to you according to our tailoring way. Thanks.”
does anyone have any suggestions on a reputable chinese dress maker who is willing to customize more?
my current plan is to see if i can provide them with “big clear picture” that i have made in photoshop so that i can have the pieces of different gowns that i like. 😀 but it’d be good to have options!
