My wedding was on New Years Eve last year, and this was one of the favors I debated before going with something else. I still really love the idea, though, especially because I grew up with Peppermint Pigs.
Basically, for Christmas Eve or New Years Eve, you would buy a Peppermint Pig, then everyone in the family would take turns smashing it and then eating it in hopes of prosperity and good luck the next year. Saratoga Sweets is the company that makes them, and although the normal sized ones might be too costly for each guest, the also make a tiny little pig for stocking stuffers that could be given, along with a little tag with an explanation.
Here’s a link if anyone’s interested. Just thought I would share the idea.
