I’m currently in a long distance relationship and my SO lives in another country. We only get to see each other once a month since it’s quite a long plane ride. I was trying to come up with cute little ideas of things I can do, surprises I can send or mail him, or gifts I can bring for him the next time we see each other. We haven’t said “I love you” yet so nothing too extreme or too overboard lovey-dovey.
Just looking for any cute or creative suggestions 🙂

arizonali : My now-husband and I were also in a very far LDR (about 6,850 miles)!
When he came to visit me, I brought him a bag filled with the types of snacks and soda he likes, so that he could eat those for a week, and a box of Godiva chocolates. He brought me a photo album and printed photos from the last time we were together.
Another time, I brought him different flavors of Lindt chocolate bars (lime, pineapple, orange). I found out later that he’s not as big a fan of chocolates as I thought he was. Haha!
We first met in his country, so at that time, when I was leaving to go home, I gave him a dual-time watch so that he could see both his time and mine. He wears pretty expensive watches and obviously mine was nowhere near that. But I noticed he would wear it whenever he came to visit me and even now he still wears it on special occasions. I think it’s really sweet of him. Maybe this could be a nice LDR gift for your guys too!
I also wrote little messages in cards when I gave him the watch and the chocolates another time. After we got married and I moved in to our new apartment, I noticed that he kept all of those. 😊
By the way, there are these LDR pillows that both light up whenever one person lies on theirs. There are some pretty nice ideas that you can look up. I think LDRs can be quite sweet. Good luck!!

I wrote a bunch of letters and put them in envelopes that would say “Open when you’re really sad” “Open when you miss me” “Open when I talk about marriage too much” “Open when you’re worried about an exam”, etc. I also drew little, funny cartoons in them to keep things lighthearted.
We also got this book that we call “Question of the Day”, where it has a question for you each to answer for every day, for three years. One of us would be the bookkeeper, and either ask over the phone or text the QOTD to the other, without telling them last year’s answers.
For finals week, I would send a little study pack with notecards, post-its, chocolate, etc. Just fun little things.
Hope this gives you some ideas! 🙂

I used to always ship my fiancé snacks when we were long distance- just as a random surprise. When he was sick and had to have a surgery and I couldn’t be there, I also sent him get well cards from my students!

I once sent mine home made sugar cookies. He loved them!
