Get an otter box. They are kinda clunky but there are some pretty colors.  It will protect your phone. I have had mine for a month and i have allready dropped my phone enough times that with out the case the screen would have shattered.  it is also more or less water proof. I wouldn't take it swimming but i dropped my phone in the sink full of water and it was ok

Agree with otterbox, although I would definitely be careful with water.  Their customer service is great too- FH broke the inner layer of mine, and they sent me an entire new one.

DH has the Commuter by Otterbox, and I highly recommend it. It feel out of his pocket the other day while he was running (he was goofing around) and it feel face first onto the concrete and it was totally fine, not a scratch on it. The case obsorbed all the impact, it didn't even bounce!

    Also super cool: http://www.grovemade.com/

I really love the gelli cases from case-mate.  they are very slim and seem protective enough for me.  I am not the type of person who drops phones a lot, I'm sure this case will protect it from a  short drop (like 4 or 5 feet). oh also, they come with a screen protector that is really good. mine looks totally invisible and the texture is perfect.

if you are super prone to dropping your phone, then get one of the thicker cases, like speck!

(the gelli case is made of a material called TPU. it's flexible but not super stretchy. I got a super cheap one from amazon, but it did not fit nearly as well as the case-mate version. you get what you pay for!)

I’ve gone through so many cases for my iPhones that I could probably start my own kiosk! Currently I’m using an incase one from Best Buy that I really like (I think it was like $35). It’s my perfect shade of pink (the specific shade is rare) and glittery so how could I not love it!

When looking for a case it’s important to get something with a lip on the front. A lot of cases sit flush to the front of the phone which is basically useless as far as screen protection goes. You need a case with a lip so that when your phone is screen down, you don’t run the risk of biffing it up. You’ll also want to make sure that the side buttons are easily accessible. I tried a case that looked cool but it was almost impossible to adjust the volume or switch to vibrate without some solid effort. The case shouldn’t hinder your experience, it should just protect your phone and there are a lot of them out there that do just that.

I use the defender series- it is the most protective.  Amazon has great prices, but I went through otterbox. I got the 4S right when it came out so amazon didn't have them yet, and I was worried I would drop it in the meantime.

i also suggest an otterbox. I love mine. Its a bit bulky but not to the point that it would deter me from using it. I do not drop my phone often but when i have (only once since i have had the iphone 4s) it has done its job perfectly. I would not take my phone in water but my sister dropped hers in a bucket full of soapy water and it came out perfect. i will have to ask which one she uses. its by otterbox but im not sure of the specific model. im actually shopping around for another color for mine. I currently have black because I bought this one when i bought the phone and it was the only one available at the time.

I have this Kate Spade cover, (found on sale).  I love that it's silicone so it's still soft and not bulky and provides a nice grip so I don't have to worry about dropping it as much.

There is a highly rated warranty on amazon that I got- way cheaper and better than verizon warranty.
