I was thinking about having my parents over for an early father’s day cookout (maybe make up a lie about having to go out of town on father’s day weekend…bc i don’t think I can wait that long!) and give my dad this (only obviously est. 2013)
Anyone have any more clever ideas? I am thinking I need to get my mom somethign random too to show everyone bc even though the point is that it’s a father’s day gift she might feel left out, so maybe i would just go get her a bib or something that says i heart my grandma.
Also, did you wait until your first doctor’s appointment to tell your parents or blurt it out before? I don’t want to wait 9 more days to tell them!! But I am also nervous about too many people finding out before I hear that heartbeat…

@Rose120: Cute! We didnt wait to tell my family before the first doctors appt. I was too excited to not tell them!
We gave our families fortune cookies with the news on the inside, it was so much fun! And that way everyone could be apart of it. Sorry the pic is so big

We told my parents the day after our first appointment. It was the weekend before Mother’s Day so I brought my mom a card and taped our ultrasound pic inside. Needless to say she was at first very confused – but finally caught on. And then my parents were really excited!

That is a cute idea!
When we told my Mom, I sent her a picture of my positive pregnancy test that said “Happy Birthday Grandma!”
Initially I wanted to wait until we were 12 weeks to tell everyone, but since we found out only days before my mom’s bday, I couldn’t help myself 🙂

@Rose120: I love this idea! i told my parents right after my first appointment – granted i had my first appointment just shy of 5 weeks haha…. I wanted to do something fun but couldn’t wait! I think we will opt for a fun gender reveal since we couldn’t wait to tell them.
I LOVE the idea you have! i think its so cute.

I gave my father a grandpa frame and inside said “Photo Coming Soon, EDD October 30, 2012”. For my mother, she was still on my case to finish picking my wedding pictures so I gave her an album and said that I thought she might want to use it with her pictures. But when she unwrapped it, it was a baby book with an inscription inside. For DH’s parents I gave them each a mug for St.Patty’s day that had all of the grandkids names listed in shamrocks and one of the shamrocks said “Baby Roxy”.

I have shirts for my girls to wear that say Biggest sis and Big sis. I think we will take a picture of them and then make announcements out of it with the picture and saying “Arriving 12.24.12”

For my In-Laws, we got an ornament that said Grandma to Bee on the front with a picture of a bumblebee and on the back it said Expected in Jan. 2013.
My mother we got her one of those block calendars from Hallmark that says __ weeks till I’m a grandma.
My stepfather got a scrabble mug (we always play it together) that says I love you grandpa!
