Yes, you have a higher circulating blood volume and your mucosa is more enriched. You should notice that your gums are bleeding a lot more when you floss too.
If, of course, something won't stop bleeding after a while, hopefully you are talking to your doctor about it!
(and this is in no way medical advice!)
Oh i've heard about the gums thing! My oral hygeniest told me "you must not be pregnant!" because my gums didn't bleed when they flossed. I said, "what?!" and she explained
More pregnancy fun! I did not know that and I am 5 months! I did know that your blood volume increased, but it didn't occur to me that I might bleed more or anything. I guess I haven't cut myself yet! I haven't noticed any bleeding when I floss, either (which is daily).
Nevertheless, I will be very cautious around sharp objects ... :-)
In my first pregnancy, this totally freaked me out!! Between flossing and cutting myself shaving, I thought I was losing it!
In a funny semi-related note, I was vacuuming the staircase a couple weeks ago and my heart started beating really hard and I was super out of breath, so I went and sat on the couch in the living room next to my 5 yo, and my husband asked if I was okay. I told him that bc of all the extra blood in my system it made my heart beat harder, etc, etc. So, now, my daughter tells everyone that "Mom is all full of extra blood bc of that baby!" She thinks it's so gross!

I am about 4 months pregnant and 3 times this month I have noticed that I am bleeding a lot from a minor cut or scrape! The first time, my kitty scratched my nose and lip while I was sleeping, and when my husband checked it, he said my face was covered in blood like a horror movie and he got really freaked out. The second time, I got bitten by a horse-fly at the beach, and the blood was literally running down my leg. The third time, I was flossing my teeth and afterward I looked like a vampire! So gross!
I think this is happenning because of all the extra blood in my body due to the pregnancy, but it is still gross and disturbing! Have you noticed that small cuts were bleeding a lot when you were pregnant?
