How many guests are you expecting?

I would, at the least, do a separate buffet. I would not host an affair and have guests share a buffet with the regular patrons of a restaurant.

That would seem really weird to me if I were a guest and I would be uncomfortable hosting an event like that myslef, but I’d never complain or anything as a guest.

I’d understand from the kitchen’s perspective if you booked the buffet and they were just doubling the normal food, but sharing with the restaurant patrons is a little odd… Maybe ask for clarification on if your guests will be mingling with the general public?

@JazzyGemini:  If your wedding is in a private room in the restaurant It might not be so odd as a guest to go and get your selections. Lots of buffets are in different rooms from receptions. If they have to walk down a hallway or go down floors to get my meal it would be odd.

@JazzyGemini:  We had our reception at a Vegas casino buffet. We had a private room but guests got to eat at the regular old buffet. Everyone loved it because it increased the choices (over 200 in fact). We loved it because it was more choices for less money. We had just under 40 guests.
