I’m an older bee who took 10 years off work to be a Stay-At-Home Mom, and since then have been in the same job for about another 10 years. So now I’m working on my CV, and I’ve realised it’s quite hard to find referees. Asking current co-workers is awkward, and all of the ex-workers from my current job were junior to me.
So, I’m wondering if it’s worth putting referees from my pre-maternity days, 20 years before. I’ve recently found out how to contact my two most important supervisors, and I’m pretty sure what they’d say would be positive. Or do HR people frown on references that old?
I work in a very technical field, where multiple referees seem to be a good thing in most job ads I see.
