I'm just so thrilled I have to share!
The bad stuff first: the CVS yesterday-- it was thoroughly unpleasant, and in parts, terribly painful. They didn't get enough the first time going vaginally (and that procedure took 15 minutes-- not the 5 so many mention), so they had to do it again 30 minutes later transabdominally (this one took 3 minutes at most). It was more painful going abdominally, but if I have the option, with the next pregnancy I'm going to request going abdominally since with my particular anatomy it seems to work much better that way.
The upside was the ultrasound-- the ultrasound machine was MUCH better than the ones used at the lab at my normal hospital, and definitely better than the one in my OB/Midwife office. The tech seemed to take pity on me going through the CVS twice so she did a 3D ultrasound too, and printed off a few pictures for us. It was amazing to see baby so developed at only 12 wks!
And finally, the good news that I'm so excited about-- they did the rapid result testing-- and baby is PERFECT! Not even a carrier like me!!! And, we found out we're having a boy. I've never cried so many happy tears before. Just so very happy and relieved that baby has better genes than I do!
