Unfortunately, it happens for some of us – and it IS frustrating.

Are you tracking ovulation signs yet? If not, it’s a good indication of how things are going in your cycle – especially on those LONGER cycles, where you’re sure you’re knocked up, since your period hasn’t arrived. Good luck!

@MissBMarie1428:  I highly recommend charting (esp if you have wonky cycles). You should grab a copy of Taking Charge of Your Fertility, it’s an amazing book and full of knowledge. It goes through how to chart and what to look for etc.

My cycles coming off BC are still weird (went off in March). My first two seemed normal, then had an almost 60 day cycle, and this one is looking better, but long… if it weren’t for charting i’d be testing every other day making myself nuts!! We just started TTC so it’s been a great tool to help me understand where I’m at in my cycle.

Best of luck!

Yup I was fairly regular before BC. Came off, had my breakthrough bleed, then 1st real cycle was 35 days. After that I didn’t have a period for almost 3 months and had to take Provera to bring it on. I’m now in the middle of another long one, still not sure if I’ve ovulated or not. I would def recommend charting to give you a better idea of if you’re ovulating and when to expect your period. Good luck!

Yeah definitely. I was on BC for 7 years and when I got off it in March, I went 2 months without a period. It can mess you up!

Another proponent of charting. I’d go insane not knowing otherwise (hell, even though I know my luteal phase (ovulation to period) is 15-16 days, I STILL get nervous around 14 days post ovulation.

Also, you should definitely get some cheap pregnancy tests! I buy them in the dollar store, so I don’t feel so bad about testing when I know I’m being ridiculous. Other people get them in bulk on Amazon I think for less than a dollar each. I won’t buy one in the pharmacy until I’m confirming a dollar store one, probably.

It took about 3 months for my period to get back to normal after coming off the pill (we weren’t TTC, just decided to come off). Dollar Tree has pregnancy tests, which sounds crazy, but an online search said that they are actually just as good as more expensive brands… Looks like a trip for the dollar store for you! ^_^

After I got off BC (I was on Yasmin for 7 years and started having bad side effects) I started having 35 to 40 day cycles. It took months to effectively regulate.

Congrats on your positive result! A book to check out is Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler, it teaches you SO much about your body it’s insane.

I’m not TTC but when I went off BCP I went 9 months without a period and before that when I had stopped a different BCP I went 7 months without one. Now I don’t have a cycle at all.

Congrats on your BFP!
