Ok, first off are you using a Mac or PC? I can help you with a Mac but not a PC!
Also, did you read Da Font's help guide for this? It's quite good. http://www.dafont.com/faq.php
I of course am on a PC. I am on the tutorials now and will try to reboot my computer (big arse grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr to this)....
okay rebooting didn't work I need help please anyone anywhere...
I would google how to add fonts to your computer, unfortunately, I forgot how to do it. But basically, you have to add the font to your computer's typeface for it to work. There should be instructions online somewhere.
@ysqueen: i added them to my fonts in c:windows/fonts but it just wouldn't work. I will google it. I am recently dumb and can't remember how to do anything!!
@crebre80: I had some problems with this too! I read a thread on how to do it, but it would not work on my computer. if you figure something out, please let me know!
@Corykru: Will do. I just posted a "help" post in their threads... In like two seconds I am ready to pay someone for it. It really shouldn't mean this much to me, right?!
LMAO!
Do you have windows xp or 7? or vista? and what browser are you using? I can walk you through it. I use da font all the time
If you had a mac this would be way easier ;-P. But seriously, what you did should have worked. Google is your friend!
@crebre80: yeah it shouldn't be this hard! I was up all night the other night trying to figure this out lol :-P. I have vista btw....don't know if that makes a difference.
Windows XP:
Windows Vista:

Windows 7:

download the zip and then (this is the important part!) copy the actual file onto your desktop. then, copy it from there to your fonts folder. new windows is wonky and wont install it from zips.
I just figured this out 2 days ago. Click "download" on the font you would like. When it pops up in the c: file there is a button on the tool bar that says "extract file" push that button! THEN open your control panel and click the "fonts" file open. Once the font file is open minimize that screen and have both the font file and the c: file side by side, highlight the selected font name that you uploaded and drag and drop it in the the font file. It should then ask for permission to place it there, select yes and it should the show up in the font scroll box on your word documents. Good Luck! It took me forever, but now its easy and I love Dafont!
@mmm31911: I am totally trying this now!! Thanks so much!!!
I figured it out!! I extracted it to the desktop and dragged it and dropped it into the fonts folder!! Woohoo!!!!!
eta that worked but it didn't change the numbers to the right font?

I've a tutorial on my blog (last month, I think). I'd share the link, but I don't want to violate our policy.
@helenberry:please pm it to me!!!! or you can put it in our October share your blog section... Heck i think this is a very fair example of when to post a how to because more than me are confused,
@crebre80: i have had that problem with some fonts I have downloaded from DaFont. :(
Maybe someone else has the solution?
Just wanted to let you know that there were some fonts I have downloaded that the letters are amazing...until I need a number. :/
@mmm31911: yep exactly!! I am using them to put on my envelope labels...
They sort of match the font on my invites...

You are the best! It worked. Thank you so much for putting this thread together :-).
Just for everyone's info, I have encountered the occasion font downloaded from free websites that is corrupt and simply won't open. Crebre, it sounds like you figured it out, but if you're ever having trouble again, try a different font before you go crazy trying to make things work.
@Corykru: No biggie girlie!! We are in this together, although I think I may go the calligraphy route for some of them....
@kirabee: Yeah I figured out everything except how to put them in the proper number format. It's driving me crazy not having the right numbers on them....

How do I download and use a font from Da Font? I downloaded Porcelain, but when I tried to open it, it gave me an error. Anyone care to give a Da Font for Dummie's tutorial?
