Give it some time. Your wedding is over 2 years away which gives everyone some more time to heal and move on. I’m sure your dad won’t miss the opportunity to be there for your wedding.

@Sheevann:  Your mom and this guy are engaged? I don’t really see any way around avoiding inviting him. Your dad is probably capable of sucking it up (I wish I could think of a nicer way to phase that) for one day. If you don’t invite your mom’s Fiance she might not come. Would that bother you? I would make it a priority to get your dad to come, and if he refuses to let your mom’s Fiance come, then just don’t give your mom a +1. If you don’t give her a +1 she will likely not come, and I think you need to be prepared for that. I hate advising you to choose one parent over the other. I think its a terrible situation and I feel you with having divorced parents. (Mine split right after I got engaged, but they seem to get along better than most at the moment.)

I agree give it time let the dust settle moreso.

Approach to subject lightly with you dad when the time comes that he is first and foremost blah blah blah.

@Sheevann:  Unfortunetly lot’s of people have divorced parents who hate eachother-my fiance is one of them. It can make things difficult. But most parents are willing to put their issues aside for one day, because the day is about you and your future husband. Your dad doesn’t even need to talk to the guy.

Try to give them time. My parents are now both remaried and good friends but ti took time. By then as mentioned he should at the worse be able to suck it up.

It’s too early to worry about this now.  You’ve been engaged for less than a month and your wedding is years away.

Concentrate on the fun things
