I didn't ever think in my wildest dreams these would look so good. :) I'm so glad this one turned out as good as it did...but, now I need more flowers. I don't think I realized just HOW MANY flowers I would need. Anyway, now that I HAVE an idea...I need to go buy more flowers.

This is what my first attempt at the poms looked like:Daisy pomanders...my DIY update!! : wedding Daisypom

They look great!!  So a question...

Since they obviously do require a LOT of flowers to cover them, do you still think you saved a lot of money DIYing them?  Or break even if you were to have a florist do them?

Thanks!! The lighter flowers are a little bit brighter than my yellow that I paired with the navy, but since they will be on the ceiling, I doubt anyone will notice...

Honestly, I didn't even look into having a florist do them because I really didn't think it would be within the budget to have real flowers. Everything I have bought to DIY them has been on sale...with the exception of the styrofoam balls...which were surprisingly expensive (well, I thought they would be a LOT cheaper). I am kind of cheap that way though...I don't even buy clothes unless they are on sale. (Hubs thinks I am nuts. But, it saves us a TON of money).

@dns567-The yellow pom above was about 48 flowers on a 6 inch styrofoam ball...I have to say they are quite big...I did a couple of 4 or 5 inch styro-balls too, and they look awesome, also, fewer flowers. I think it is going to depend on what kind of flowers you use.

Here are some more I made...although I think my claculations were a bit off because I am running out of flowers now and I thought I had enough to finish the project after my trip to Michaels this morning (during which I cleaned them out of daisies...) *SIGH* I will have to figure out something. Maybe I will make a trip to Austin tomorrow. Here is the latest:

hopefully this works. These are the pics I was trying to upload earlier. Not really sure what I think of the blue flowers as accents in these?

Just wanted to throw it out there that the Dollar Tree may have some daisies. Also, I purchased carnations for my sister's wedding in bulk from a seller on ebay. They were MUCH cheaper than getting them out of Michaels and we were able to buy all that we needed at once. We had a weekend where we ordered pizza and glued and watched movies =) Now all of that's done and packed away for her September wedding.

My mom found the flowers online too, I got everything 50% off, with the exception of the stryofoam. Still spent a pretty penny on my 2 hour project, but I can't really put a price on love. :) I am so excited to see these hanging from the ceiling!!!

Miss Lily, I love the orange & yellow color scheme! Don't really care for the blue accent flowers, but like the blue ribbon.

I made these myself as well.  I used dollar store flowers and I think they look okay because they are so smooshed together.  Mine are a mix of fushia colour poeny and carnation type flowers.  I also pre-painted the balls fushia incase any spot showed through.  I think mine cost about $5.00 a ball.  I am making 10 to put on every second pew.
