I decided to go with a Black and White Damask theme...with pops of hot pink. If I have it at the wedding, can I do it in the inviations? Or is it overkill?

Some Bees have used outright damask... and others have used more subtle damask references.   A few links here!

I don't think it'll be overkill if you use them in your invites. The whole wedding will just seem more put together and thought out than if you had some random designs on your wedding invitations.

Having a central theme running throughout your wedding is a good thing. It helps unify from beginning to end. You can even do damask favor tags for your favors:

I think it would be a great pattern for your invites, it would be nice to have a central color scheme or theme flowing throughout the wedding and making it more pulled together.

I think it would be great for your invites. =) Right now I'm picturing card-like ones with a damask pattern on the outside, then a strip of lace tape on the inside, with hot pink for the script lettering (ex. your names, location & date), and black (or white, if you're going with a black background) for the rest!

I don’t think over killer at all, if you picked you colors because those represent you and your FI, you should totally stick to them; I love the way I can imagine cute invitations with your colors and the poppies idea :)

I am looking up damask invites right now! My FI even likes the pattern, so I am going for it.
