The cost varies greatly by region. As for how many lessons, if you're taking private lessons than probably about 4 lessons will get you really comfortable with your song and the dance style that goes with it. If you want to learn more than just one style, or you want to have a choreographed first dance, at least 8 lessons are a good start. Once a week lessons are good so that you don't have time to forget everything in-between.

One of the (few) requests my fiance has made is that we take dance lessons, and have some choreography for our first dance. I've begun to do research with dance schools in our area, and was also curious what some other bride's experience was.
How many lessons did you have? How far in advance did you start them? How much did they cost? And, most importantly, how did it go the day of?
