I am shamelessly bumping up my post!
Bees, I am dance-challenged and need any help I can get!
I've never tried dance lessons on DVD, but I imagine it might be a bit like doing a Pilates or Yoga DVD when you've never been instructed on the correct poses... really difficult! Is there a way you could spend a Saturday or two at a town an hour or however long away, and take lessons there? That way you can have a dance that your instructor knows works well with your song.
Rhumba might be a good fit for this song. It's quite an easy dance, as dances go. The basic step is a box step, and if you add in a few turns for the girl you'll have a simple but elegant first dance. There are YouTube videos galore that give introductory lessons on how to dance, so I would start there before investing in a dance DVD (they can be kind of expensive). If you like the teaching style of any of the couples you find there, check to see if they have DVDs.
Here's two of the choreographers from So You Think You Can Dance demonstrating a rhumba to a Beatles song. It's a little faster than your song, but it will give you an idea of what simple rhumba looks like: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WF9iB91QQ6c
Thanks, ladies!
@lilyfaith - Good point - I have so much trouble trying to do yoga poses from DVD alone!
@chelseamorning - Thanks - I am loading that video right now!

So, we're pretty sure we have our song selected for our first dance - months ago my FI had suggested "You are the best thing" by Ray LaMontagne. I love the song, and more than that I love the fact that he came up with this idea all on his own!
(Here's a link to the song, if you're curious: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vJ3xTjvj9tw)
The problem is that neither of us really knows how to dance, and we live in a small town where dance lessons aren't exactly readily available. Has anyone tried dance lessons on DVD? There seem to be a bunch of choices out there, but none of them look all that promising at first glance!
