try your local community center or junior college. i live in LA county, on the border of LA/Orange County, so we went to our city's community center classes. we paid $35 each person and we got 8 weeks (once per week) of ballroom lessons. it was a group setting. we also took 5 weeks of salsa for another $35 each. and we found that to be more fun. but we already love salsa dancing.
That is a great idea. I didn't know they offered that. I would love to take salsa and swing. I'll see what I can talk him into...
Thanks!!
I live in Anaheim, and I know of a great private dance studio. They do private, group, private groups six days a week and teach all sorts of dance styles. They're the same price as taking a community college class. How you ask? They're in Stanton, the entire shopping plaza is dead, but they've been their for nearly ten years. Since they have low overhead, its super cheap to go there! I love going there and my fiance and I plan on taking lessons more frequently as our wedding approaches. Check it out, I know their website is a little chintzy, but its a family run business and the people there are really, really great. http://www.ezdancing.com/ OOh and they have a student and senior citizens discount!

I am getting married next October (2008) and I would like to take dancing lessons with the fiance before then. I live in tustin. Do any of you have an affordable answer to this? I think Arthur Murray and those private studios are very expensive.
