We met with him early on. He is great and his work is amazing, especially his albums. We ended up going with another photographer because we couldn't agree on the contract details with Dan. We needed 2 photographers and wanted unlimited coverage and that didn't seem to fly.
I'm sure you will love his stuff. GL!
We went with Olive Avonlea Photography. The owner is Jennifer Hudson and she is a doll. Here's her website: http://www.oliveavonlea.com/ Good Luck!
I would also check out Tom at http://photographybytom.weebly.com. He is such a nice person to work with and he has the lowest pricing for coverage with an album I saw anywhere. Good luck!
He seemed like a nice guy when I talked to him! He talked about his wife and kids a bit. He was very willing to work with me on my price, and followed up via phone/email a few times to see if I had booked anyone. I didn't end up booking him because of price.
I ended up booking with Lisa Rigby (www.lisarigbyphotography.com) instead. I love her!
My best friend booked Dan Doke, and her pictures are absolutely gorgeous. Have you checked out his blog?
i booked lisa rigby too-shes awesome! i did look at dan doke and thought he was another good choice!
My cousin used Daniel Doke for his wedding a few years back and their pics are awesome!
*bump*! Since this thread is 6 months old, I thought I'd bring it back to life.
Who are you lovely Boston bee's using for photography?? I'm shopping around and just looking for more ideas, hopefully some really good budget friendly ones (<3500) or does that just not exist in Boston??
We used Jeff Turner Photography (now Black Thumb Studio) and could not be more pleased with the end result. PM me if you want to see some of the pics he took for us.
I went to a wedding last year and the couple had hired Daniel Doke photography but it was not Daniel Doke that photographed their wedding (unless he is a short bald man). I was not that impressed with their wedding photos. I have hired LifeFusion for my wedding and they are excellent. We also met with Eric Limon and The Feds who are great photographers, but we went with LifeFusion instead. Stay away from the Pros and Bella Pictures...totally annoying and borderline harassment.
I looke at him, but he was more than twice as much as others that were also highly regarded.
We are using Jennifer, from Aphrodite. We clicked with her and I love her style.
@pinkshoes: it exists in Boston! We are using John LoConte. He shot our engagement pictures last night in Plymouth and we had a wonderful time with him. We saw a few photos on the camera and they were stunning. All of his pictures on his blog and website are beautiful and he is such a NICE guy. I highly recommend him!
Thanks for all the suggestions everyone! I've been pain stakingly adding them to my spreadsheet, ranking, and rating them. Yes, I'm a control nut that has to feel like she's explored EVERY option out there - though impossible with SO many photographers out there. Keep 'em coming! =D
I booked with Kim Calakoutis (http://www.k-c-photo.com/), who is located in the Boston area.
If someone's going to be in my face all day taking pictures, I'm so glad it's her! I highly recommend checking her out.
They do really great work. a friend of mine hired them for their own wedding and the photos are fantastic. my personal fav is zev fisher though ... www.zevfisher.com

I know this is an old post but my brother used Daniel Doke for his wedding back in 2005. Dan was there for the ceremony but he wasn't there for the reception. He sent his assistant and at some point in the middle of the reception the assistant just went home. They had little pictures to choose from after the ceremony.
He is a good photographer but make sure you book him the FULL time he needs to be there.
I met with Lifefusion too, Marina was amazing but her prices are very high. If I had the extra $$$ to spend I would have booked her.
I went with Aurora DeLuca, she just took our engagement pictures and I am SO HAPPY with them.
You need to find one that meets all your needs.
I have to say I am pretty unimpressed with Dan Doke and the people he brings to shoot with him. I don't think his pictures are very good either.
I checked out Dan Doke and absolutely would recommend him if you can afford him. His style is way better than almost any other photographer I could find. I ended up going with Keith from Berryphotos. He has a style very similar to Doke, but about half the price! They've been very responsive and helpful returning emails and calls almost immediately and from meeting with several photographers I could tell they definitely know their stuff and have a passion for what they do. Best of all though, they're just easy to talk to and put fi at ease. We were referred to them by a friend who used their other photographer Arne last year and was thrilled with her pictures. Their website is www.berryphotos.com
