We’re using purple envelopes (Violette from Cards and Pockets).
How do I address them?? I can’t print on them, black doesn’t show up well enough. Do I do a label or hand write them all – my hand writing is good but it’s not fancy!

I used a metallic gel pen once on dark envelopes. I think it looked nice and unexpected.

@MsGinkgo: we had chocolate brown envelopes, and used a fine tip gold sharpie. Maybe a silver one would look nice? If you check michaels/hobby lobby/Joann’s yiubcan probably did a metallic gel pen in any color that would work too.

If you want to hand write on them, use a silver sharpie marker.

@MsGinkgo: we just used a pearlized marker we got from a scrap booking store. It turned out gorgeous ( pearlized cream on dark champagne envelope)

I think either the silver sharpie or a silver/white/cream scrap book marker would look wonderful!

thanks for the help. I did a test with a silver gel pen and it looks pretty good – I’ll just have to give myself lots of time do they stay neat & tidy. I think I might try and find some pretty return address labels though – I really don’t want to write our address 60+ times (I can print on our RSVP envelopes – those are silver.

@MsGinkgo: you could probably find a return address stamp in a metallic ink. Try Etsy. 🙂

@MsGinkgo: You could always do a stamp for the return in metallic ink or do the frosted return labels with silver ink printing just make sure its bold enough. Also if you are worried about your writing, I took a calligraphy class through a local rec program and I think some craft supply stores offer them too

You can also buy sheets of stickers and print the addresses, it might be time consuming to lay everything out to print correctly though.

@nineteen87: I don’t think I want a big sticker in the middle of my pretty purple envelope though – unless I can find some really nice ones.
I’m pretty good with computer design programs – it’s what I do for a living – so the layout part doesn’t scare me at all. I just don’t want to take away from our pretty envelopes (I’m a dork).

@MsGinkgo: If you have friends or relatives with great handwriting you could ask them to do it for you – great excuse to get together with good food, drinks or a movie and be productive 🙂

Light coloured sticker in the middle?

I don’t know what your budget is, but I just used a FANTASTIC calligrapher on Etsy and she charged only $1/envelope to do addresses. She will write them in any color ink. I cannot reccomend her highly enough!

I made wrap-around address labels.
