If anything, I've beem more conscious of my spending after being married because we have so many things we want to spend our money on for our house, but we have to prioritize and save up to do the rest of the projects. Before getting married I had more of an "it's all about me" kind of attitude as far as spending goes, but now I'm always thinking out us, our home, and even our future family.
yeah...we did all of our renovations a couple of years ago so we don't have any big projects coming up...I guess this has just been the first time in a really long time that i've actually had "free money" i.e. money that hasn't already been allocated to a specific purpose...the only debt I have is the house and my student loans...I mean I guess I could pay off on more of my student loans...but that just isn't fun :)
I'm also a big browser on Amazon. Too awesome.
I think that you're not necessarily being irresponsible with your spending. You've taken care of lots of stuff and for the first time you don't really have to worry. Spoil yourself a little! Work spending money for yourself into your monthly and/or weekly budget and put the rest away for a rainy day. Work with the craving!
My husband and I are on a strict budget right now because I'm not working so all my excess spending has been reined in! You know it's bad when a shoe-aholic gets excited because they get to buy the first pair of shoes in about 9 months!
OMG @MissAsB! I've turned into such a shoe-aholic! don't worry...you won't regret it in the end...
@MissHelen i think I might do that...set aside a certain amt. for spending per month...that way I wont go overboard...and maybe get sick of it lol...I know...yeah right...
Haha, I hate not being able to buy any right now! I went to the store on Thursday and I was practically drooling.
Not having money to spend is horrible!

I have a problem.
I shop...but I don't go to stores, I go to amazon.com. Because they have great deals...and I rationalize it to myself that if I bought it in the store it would be X amount more expensive...help me out hive! smack some sense into me! I think i'm suffering from post wedding/house buying shopping...
See, for the past several years, I've saved and penny pinched for countless big purchases...buying a house, paying for our wedding...and I've lived by a strict budget since I think my mid-20's...but now that all of that is over, I don't necessarily live by a "budget"...I mean we have a set household budget that both me and hubby contribute to for household and savings...but we also have individual accounts that we can basically 'do' anything we want to with...and I find myself literally doing what I want to...
200 bag/pair of shoes that I would have balked at a couple of years ago? no problem!
impromptu shopping spree? of course!
and Amazon.com is the worst culprit...I feel like I should be saving this money (it is a recession!) and I started direct depositing some away in my savings account...but I still spend...HELP!!!
Did you find your shopping/spending habits change after you got married? or is it just me?
