Prepare yourselves for a stupid vent here…
I ordered my dress back in June, and they told me it was going to be ready by December. I just got a call this evening and they told me the dress was ready for pickup. I know I should be excited, but I’ve been feeling a lot of dress regret since the day I got it and the feeling only got worse after I got paranoid and showed my fiance the picture of the dress two months later…and he hated it. So for the past 5 months, I’ve been busting my…what can only be described as a fat ass…trying to lose weight to look halfway decent in my dress and trying to think of ways to alter the dress so the FI doesn’t have that “Ewww, you’re wearing THAT on our special day?!?!” look ON the wedding day. I’m not even halfway close to my weight goal and haven’t really thought of ways to alter the dress…other than to, at my FI’s recommendation, to remove the straps…and also to add on a different sash. Any other bees have had this problem before? You feel too fat at your first fitting and you aren’t super happy with the dress?
Picture of the dress below for reference:
I’m about 2x the size of the model and probably several inches shorter…

I like your dress the way it is! Wear what you want- your FI probably knows NOTHING about fashion and will love whatever you end up wearing on the actual day of.

It’s a beautiful dress…can’t honestly make suggestions if I don’t know what you look like in the dress.

Honestly, you will look totally different in the dress than the model does (that is true for EVERYBODY, no matter who it is) and your FI won’t even remember the dress anyway if you don’t show it to him again.
He is going to think that you look *gorgeous* no matter what you are wearing. I promise. Men know nothing about fashion and he will be so excited that all he will see is his gorgeous bride in a pretty dress.
As far as the straps, you want to be careful. Obviously I can’t tell from just the stock photo of the dress, but if I had to guess by looking at it, I’d say that there is little to no boning there, meaning that there won’t really be any support if you remove the straps. (The straps are essentially holding it up.)
I could be totally wrong, but definitely check it out before you have the straps taken off. (And I LOVE the straps, anyway!)

I think it is beautiful. I love the straps and would leave them; however, for the sash I would get rid of the bow/flower thing.
I am sure your FI would think you looked beautiful on your wedding day even if you wore a paper bag.

Wow I’m obsessed with your dress. You’re going to look amazing

I think the dress is beautiful and the straps are my favorite part. Of course I don’t know what it looks like on you, but I”m surprised your FI would have such a strong reaction. In my experience men don’t have much of an eye for this kind of thing.

The dress shown on the model is beautiful and I’m sure it’ll look even more beautiful on you!!!

@June14Bride: I personally think it is beautiful, but as a bride who just went through dress regret and followed her heart. I totaly understand. I returned my dress that I did not like for the dress of my dreams and I am very happy with my decision. My mother is still mad at me, but I feel so much happier regardless knowing I will love my dress. My FH hates ballgowns, and I got another ballgown. I went with what I wanted. Not what everyone else wanted. In the end I am very happy with my decision and no matter what dress I see until the wedding day, I know I am not changing my mind.
Again I think that is a very beautiful dress. In the end you are the one who has to wear that dress. Wether you do or don’t want it for whatever reason. Do what makes you happy and as stress free as possible. It is your day! Your FI could see it and be blown away by how good you look! That is what I am hoping happens on my wedding day! 🙂
Good luck 🙂

@June14Bride: That’s a lovely dress! I think most of us are shorter than the models – I swear they must be standing on a stepladder or something….. LOL
