@Jen51287:  DB is generally VERY expensive for alterations–I would check out local seamstresses first!

@Jen51287:  I’m not sure of the exact price as I only recieved a quote… but my alterations were more at DB, than for my current seamtress shop (local around the corner, and proving to be amazing!!!) is charging for ALL my dress+long sleeved bridal jacket fitting+MOB dress+MOH dress. I would look into a local shop and trust someone who knows what their doing. 🙂

@Jen51287:  There is a post that went up recently that had a list of costs. I believe I commented on it so you should be able to find it that way?

@Jen51287: I don’t know for wedding dress, but my BM dress was more then triple  then what it usually costs me. The reasons I went for David’s over my usual seamtress is because the BM was David’s so if they mess it up, they are supposed to have a policy to fix it for replace, cost free. Honestly, I should have gone for my usual. I haven’t picked up my dress yet, but I’m having nightmares about them screwing up, and unfortunately it’s a discontinued dress, so there IS no replacement.

My DB alterations were $125..I thought it was reasonable to have my dress taken in almost 2 dress sizes. then again I don’t trust my dress going anywhere else since it is a DB dress and they have experience altering their own dresses.

@MangoSong:  Ugh, I know what you mean. I dropped off a BM dress last week and really wish I hadn’t. The alterations they claim I need cost more than the dress itself! I went for just the overpriced hem, but only because they will steam it for free before the wedding.

@emtimme:  That is EXACTLY it! I paid I think $150? for alterations. The dress cost me $70. I could have just gotten it done for $30/40, but like a PP said, I thought they would have experience with their own dresses.

@Jen51287:  I’ve heard horrible things about David’s Bridal alteration. Try to find a local seamstress on Wedding Wire or Yelp. If you are in Metro DC I can give you the name of my seamstress.
