Do they not have online portfolios available where the pricing is available? That’s weird if not.

Honestly, i’d prefer an independent professional. I also am not a huge fan of the David’s Bridal business model (how they sell your info to every vender under the sun, etc). So, I would not want to support that.

@NYCowgirl:  Run as fast as you can. Don’t trust your wedding photography to a dress store. I’ve heard horror stories and this and all the other companies set up this way (Bella, The Pros, George Street Photo, etc). David’s bridal finds their photographers on Craigslist, pays them terribly, and has hardly any ability to control or really assess the skill of the people they contract out. Most of the photographers they find are people who aren’t talented or experienced enough to book weddings/run a business on their own. They send someone out, pay them a few hundred dollars, and then that photographer never sees or touches your photos again so it’s David’s Bridal making editing decisions about your photos instead of the person who took them. Find an independent photographer who genuinely loves what they’re doing.

Google around and send e-mails instead. I got TONS of quotes ranging from $500-$5,000, and you get to see websites, Facebook pages, and portfolios.

@mariematt:  +++++++++1.

I normally have a policy where I refuse to give DB any of my money. I despise everything about the company. I caved during the Bridesmaid or Best Man dress shopping because the dresses were so cheap and easily accessable to my BM’s who were all over the place. I figured they were ones who were paying and having to shop there, so if they were okay with it that it was fine with me. Everything about the expereince, in every store, was miserable. The couple of times I went in with my girls (to different stores) I saw the photography samples – they were HORRIBLE. Really bad.

As a wedding photographer, I’m probably much picker than most, but even my BM’s who know nothing about photography thought the work was bad.
